  2. All good. As a quick update....storms firing in Nebraska moving in Minneapolis direction. Still long ways away and will they hold together. Ill update more in a few hours
  3. Check out the PLACE YOUR BETS thread....I've been posting my updates there
  4. Awwww. That sucks! Sorry everyone! See ya in Minn
  5. They get thier data from us (NWS) its up to their software to make it look good. Weather tap has a free. 14 day trial and next to mine at work, its the best available to you. IMO
  6. Yeah, accuweather radar not that good. Google NWS La Cross. Click that radar then loop the base radar. Updates every 4 min. Decent radar for free. Weather Tap.Com's HD radar MUCH better. The zoom in capabilities are crazy good. 8 bucks a month well worth it. Another good free site...google UW MADISON NEXRAD. Click on a flash loop
  7. Looks like another hour of rain....at least.
  8. Hate the be the bearer of bad news but the MCS that is currently moving just south of the minn metro is moving right for the LaCrosse area. Looks like it'll be there just around show time once it starts it'll probably rain for 2 hours. Heavy rain strong winds and possibly some hail involved. If I see anything different I will reply.
  9. My thoughts are this currently two MCS's moving through southeastern Minnesota one at Lacrosse area now one just south of the Minneapolis metro the Minneapolis MCS will bring a bit more rain to the metro area between now and the next few hours. Currently driving into the metro now looks fairly clear north of the cuty haven't had chance to look at anything except radar so im making my assumptions on the fly. I assume after what someone said about Saturday morning now only having a 10% chance of rain that the heat dome is moving a bit faster east and north. Which bodes well for sat. Just pulled off the road to see a decent looking shelf cloud, I.e. rain and wind. I am on 35e looking SW. More in a bit
  10. Another round of rain moving in. Rain was supposed to happen today. This is a good thing.
  11. Good Morning to all!! OK here's what I think so far. It's gonna pour in Minneapolis here within the next few hours, lightning, thunder, wind, hail...all that. Should be over by early afternoon though Redeveloping late this afternoon/evening as the heat dome pushes eastward and northward. Normally when a large dome of heat moves into an area of moisture, the leading edge of the heat stirs up the atmosphere and produces storms before clearing off and becoming oppressively hot and sunny! Thats exactly what should happen tonight and tomorrow am. It just really depends on...will this happen, or not. At this time, I would guess it will. Right now I think i will happen with rain ending sometime before noon. Then sunny, hot and very muggy for the show. Best guess this am. I'll post again here tonight from Minneapolis!!
  12. Hey now... Um, whatever "weather terrorists" you are watching are smoking something. The further we go into Saturday the better. I can tell you with all confidence right now that it WILL NOT rain SAT PM.
  13. Ok. Here's what I think this evening... 1. We are still 36 hours away from the event (DCI MINN) so things could change to an extent. 2. Looks like Minneapolis has a pretty decent shot of some storms tomorrow, some possibly severe. Especially in the afternoon during the max heating. The dewpoints will be on the rise all night and into tomorrow. Dewpoint is what gives you that sticky feeling, anything over 70 degrees. 3. Friday night the storms could still be going due to the moisture axis possibly wobbling in the Minneapolis direction. 4. Like I said in my first post here this week, Its gonna depend on when the heat dome surges northward. The models now having this take place in earnest Saturday AM. The official forecast is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1PM. So what do I think will happen? I will reserve that until tomorrow morning before I leave this area to head to MINN. Before 10am I'll post whats up. That'll be almost 24 hours from the show and I'll be 80% sure by then. The mechanics for how this all will play out will be in motion by this time so we should have a MUCH better understanding on whats up. Good weather forecasting isn't about guessing...its about taking all the information you have available to you, making an informed desicion, which sometimes turns out to be wrong...which is why ppl hate us But this the summer and the weather patterns are much easier to read than winter.
  14. Whoa....didn't even think about that. Good one. Does that mean all the State Patrol cars will be off the freeways too!?!?!?!?! What, I like to speed!!
  15. HA OOPS!!! Sure! Been kinda crazy at work, found some time to check the shows current weather, saw the La Crosse thread and posted. lol! Also trying to get a good idea of what weather will be like on Sat at MINN. Will be posting later on this afternoon (after models come out) on what I think here: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php/topic/146910-place-your-bets-everyone/ But sure, I'd be glad too! Although won't be as easy, I'll be driving to MINN! but I have my ways
  16. Some light showers moving towards the La Crosse area within the next hour or two. Huge blob from a decaying MCS as it runs into the drier air in northern ill and WI will move just south La Crosse. The rain that does make it to the area should remain light to moderate in nature, if at all. Not sure yet if storms will fire later this evening. Normally when a MCS moves through at this time of day it tends to stabilize the atmosphere a bit. The big question is will the atmosphere have enough time to destabilize again during max heating hours (coming up shortly) to fire off more storms. It looks right now as any rain that does re-develop will remain north of I-94 (Black river falls/Osseo/City Point/Sidney areas) Time will tell unfortunately. Will post updates as I see them.
