  1. Mine is doing the same on either stream.:huh:/>
  2. I have to give it up to Fan Network for listening to our complaints and fixing the issues that are annoying us. @DCIWhitney seems to be advocating for us too!
  3. I sure wish I could understand anything the announcer is saying.....
  4. If you're a twitterer, I have been following @DrumCorpsFan. She will be at shows the next three nights. I enjoy her updates.
  5. No one wants to leave their seats for fear of losing them. I am not a big fan of general admission for just that reason. My rear hurts and I would like to take a walk but I would certainly have to stand the rest of the show.
  6. National Anthem just finished and we are being adminished to silence our phones. The crowd is very large and we are being encouraged to slide together, as the show is general admission by section. The announcer is kind of quiet as I am on the opposite site of the speaker.
  7. I think I will try live tweeting the event. If you are interested follow me @MK2thcleaner. Be gentle, it's my first time trying this. I will also try to post pics.
  8. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Official-Madison-Scouts-Member-Drum-Corps-Jacket-/251269757902?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a80d83bce Just found this as I was messing around on ebay.
  9. Just checked twitter and found a few short videos for each section. #MadisonScouts If I were tech savvy enough I could link them.....but I'm not.
  10. As someone else said, encourage him to consider Open Class. That is where he could get his experience so that he could possible march his dream corps in the future. Most Open Class groups have move-ins later in the season. Good luck to your son. There is nothing like watching your child do what they love and succeed in it!
  11. My son will be spending his second summer with the Scouts. I heard the brass opener. I am already in love with the music!
  12. I realize this is the World Class forum, but my advice to anyone serious about marching at the "highest level" would be to keep Open Class in mind. It is better to march anywhere than sit home and wish you were on tour. If you are cut, get some experience under your belt and then go back to your corps of choice the next season the better for it. I'm not a huge advocate of "corps climbing" but I think especially for battery in the upper echelon corps who have sometimes hundreds of audition applicants show up, having corps experience can tip the odds in your favor.
  13. I'm sure sorry you and your son had this happen. I know that if it were me, it's likely I would reconsider if the risk of losing my investment was worth the experience from drum corps. Thankfully you aren't thinking like this, because a summer spent on tour will certainly change your child! I don't have any good answers for you about how to make a decision and investigate the stability of a corps. I just want you to understand that you are not the only one to be trusting, it's just so unfortunate that this didn't work out for your family. Watching the experiences of the three "folded" corps this year really make me feel lucky considering our experience with my son's rookie year. I have no musical background and had only been to a few local DCI shows because my son showed an interest. My child was 15 when he insisted it was his time. We have no corps in the state, so knew he would have to travel. After getting cut from his "dream corps", he decided to try out at a "newer" open class corps we had seen at our local drum corps show in the summer. We had enjoyed the program and they had a nice membership size and snazzy uniforms . I will freely admit we had no idea what we were getting into. I spent lots of time on the internet checking their webpage. I read what parents had to say on the facebook page. That's about it. Come November I registered him for camp, bought him a plane ticket and sent him on his merry way with little worry that someone would pick him up and get him to where he needed to be, feed him and keep him safe. Now that I look back on it, I wonder if I was stupid, naive or both! We are so lucky that everything worked out for him and the corps was FANTASTIC about taking care of him and all the kids. It sounds as if you did a better job in your investigation of the corps than I ever did. It's just too bad that kids and their parents were the victims in this unintentional hardship. I wish you and your child good luck in the future. Don't beat yourself up and feel as if you could have done something differently. If you believe anything some folks on DCP say, given the right circumstances, this could happen to so many of the corps.
  14. I'm with you Fan Mom! My kid was no where to be seen on the up close cam during Madison. He said he made the jumbotron in the stadium though. Sad I can't be at all the shows, but somebody has to make the money to pay next years fees!
  15. Here's some video from the Wichita show. Sorry I couldn't post on the show thread but I was too busy chatting with our friends and family who had come to see my son in his first HOME SHOW! I will say the crowd was full of folks who were eager to see the Men of Madison. I was told later that it had been 12 years since they'd been to town. Pardon the angle. As much as I'd have liked to move down closer like I usually do for encores, you can see how many people stuck it out 'til the end! I keep trying to embed the video but I seem to have forgotten how . If anyone wants to fix that for me I'd be grateful!
  16. Really enjoyed the Govies. I have never seen a DCA show as I've never heard of one in our area. As has been mentioned, I enjoyed the DM immensely. Lots of fun!
  17. That really stinks! I hope they can regroup and come back stronger next year!
  18. Yes, I liked the white better too. I just wasn't sure if they change was made to clean things up a bit. The uniforms are great for these young men!
  19. Anybody notice the belt change from white to black? Do you think it makes them look cleaner on the field?
