  1. Again, not talking about design at all. I'm talking about basics. If the corps could afford to bring in John Wooton or Jeff Prosperie for the battery, it would do wonders. Peter Bond or Robert Nunez for the brass basics would have them back to the powerhouse for which they are known. These guys would rival Rennick and Shaw no doubt.
  2. And just how does that happen? It's not something that can be forced by the alumni.
  3. I agree. It's too late now to have them get involved.
  4. I'm not saying that the alumni should design a show, but that the staff should accept help from these professionals when offered for technique, etc.
  5. It truly is and you are right about the rejections. Imagine the possibilities when the load and expertise is shared.
  6. PR alumni have offered help for many years, but have been turned away up until recently. PR has many professional musicians (principle at Met Opera, NOLA Philharmonic, Disney, DCI judge, music directors at universities, percussion heads, many in Commander's Own, etc.) Lots of opportunities there if only they were welcomed to contribute.
  7. I feel the same way. It's hard to watch, but has been coming for a while. Things should've been shaken up sooner to rally back into top standings. Last year was embarrassing.
  8. Jamey Thompson wrote some beautiful drills for PR!
  9. Please don't say the name of that show again. I am trying to block it out of my memory.
  10. I believe they are just starting to work on something like this, but alumni/leadership relations has not been good until five or so years ago. BD, SCV, Cavies all have fantastic alumni organizations that fully support the home team. PR is just starting to build this, ableit slowly. A few decades late and a dollar short unfortunately.
  11. Exactly. Lack of creative expression. Too much constriction from the top.
  12. But the problem is that every corps has that same amount of room and time to grow....
  13. Yeah, that's an understatement. He WAS the Regiment brass book. He wrote it. He defined it. He perfected it. It is history.
  14. How wonderful would it be if Jim Wren could write a brass book one more time!
  15. They lose soloists to BD and horn section leaders to Crown. It has already become a feeder corps.
  16. THIS. They've not been able to do what it takes to keep top staff (Shaw, Rennick, Gaines, etc.). Alumni is just recently being welcomed back and asked to participate and contribute. It all feeds into the equation. You can't turn the Titanic around so fast, unfortunately.
  17. PR had a running program in the early '80's led by an instructor that was a runner.
  18. Yep, all old Regiment staff. Too bad PR couldn't keep 'em.
  19. Hire amazing design team and rally the alumni and fans for fundraising.
  20. If something is to change, it needs to happen yesterday. The corps has been in a downward spiral for the past six years. Any competent and experienced staff needed will be spoken for in the next month. Regiment needs to rally the troops and act quickly.
  21. Too bad Jim Wren has retired. He's THE Regiment sound.
