  1. I am looking for a 2009 WGI world championships patch. If anyone has one I would be willing to buy it. Please and thank you!
  2. has anyone purchased the star of indiana anthology yet?
  3. who was the last corp to make finals with G bugles? and i know that Star of Indiana was the last corp to make finals with 2 valve bugles. another interesting question. how many world class use large bore horns? You think most corps would considering Bugles were all large bore im pretty sure. I know most yamaha corps march .459 trumpets and compared to .468 bugles thats a big difference.
  4. what ive heard the new system blue trumpets a much improved versions of the old king horns. they are meant to be played with the system blue mouthpieces and are some of the best playing marching trumpet out there. theyre also more expensive then the old king marching model and basically makes them obsolete. i dont think i would try to get one unless you were only going to play it for marching when you could get a xeno and use it for anything. just my two cents
  5. if possible try to bring in someone that has experience with marching cymbals. but everything your doing sounds like your on your way to creating a great line good luck!
  6. olds ultratones VR show up on ebay frequently and usually go for about 100 dollars in pretty good condition.
  7. any idea how much it would cost to ship a soprano to florida?
  8. If you have never had anything to do with marching cymbal lines you probably will not understand their importance, tradition, and opportunity it is for some people. The only way a cymbal line can negatively effect a score is if 1. the line doesn't march well. 2. visuals arent clean and together 3. crashes or parts being played are out of time. 4. splits and other parts are written badly 5. the line doesnt have a good sense of uniformity There is a different type of brotherhood and friendship when it comes to a cymbal line. That is different then any other part of the corp or unit. and it comes from the people in the line working hard to go from four or five people into a cymbal line and knowing eachother like brothers. When corps try to remove there cymbal lines there is usually a huge alumni uproar. If a corp loses its alumni support bad things can happen. some people think cymbal visually are "distracting"? yeah i think not. if a cymbal visual is distracting (they are only distracting if they are done badly) cymbal visuals add to the show people just have to learn to appreciate them. Im not saying all cymbal lines are good because there are definitely some bad ones that are out there and yes some of the things they do are distracting but only because they are just bad in general. but you know what is distracting seeing people walk up to a mic for a solo. some corps are cutting down the cymbal lines to add more horns and snares. honestly is marching 80 horns and 10 snares going to help you win? no. so is have 4 cymbals going to make you lose no. Cymbal lines can also give people who dont play brass or percussion a chance to experience dci. I have plenty of friends who played woodwind instruments and learned cymbals so they could march drum corp. People who talk about bringing drum corp the masses and expanding the people that can participate in drum corp. Cutting cymbals is a sure fire way to alienate some people from ever getting the chance to march or experience it. if you dont think cymbal lines add to a show or add to the corp you are sadly mistaken and need to pay more attention to them. Most people are still under the impression that cymbals is easy and is just crashing them together. And cymbal lines have far since evolved from the days of the 70's when holding for snares and just playing crashes were all they did. Playing cymbals is no longer just for the people that get cut from playing a drum. Cymbal playing is just as serious as playing a drum, horn, or spinning a flag. Cymbal lines are a part of drum corp like colorguards and drumlines are. Theyve been around since the beginning and should continue to stay around. I strongly support cymbal lines and all who have ever marched or taught the art of cymbal playing.
  9. Looking for used mellophone mouthpieces for a good price. I mean really good price like 10 dollars. any condition .
  10. in 2010 carolina crown used brass lacquered horns. People usually say that silver is slightly edgier not alot but a little. Also the finishes on silver horns are going to last longer and even longer with chrome.
  11. what brand sop, how many valves, and how much for one?
  12. Prices lowered 600 for king 300 for yamaha. 875 for both. send me your email address if you would like pictures of the horns will gladly send some :)
  13. 14a4a is not really that shallow the mouthpiece i use is much shallower that than (Mike Vax #1 marcinkiewicz) . The lead mouthpiece the blue devils use is shallower then a 14a4a. A mouthpiece cannot mess a persons chops up that person using their equipment incorrectly can though. Ive never really heard of a shallow mouthpiece messing up someones chops when trying to play lead but i have heard and seen a deep mouthpiece mess up someones chops when trying to play lead. If your looking to play lead trumpet in big band/drum corp which ever, you need to find someone that specializes in lead playing that can help you. Also keep in mind when playing shallow mouthpieces to keep from bottoming out the player has to have a much more focused aperture. Most players that go from a deep mouthpiece to a shallow one instantly blame the mouthpiece if it doesnt increase their range or have magic effects. One reason most people cannot play shallow mouthpieces is because they play with too open of an aperture because when playing large mouthpieces the lips have to take up more space in the cup to achieve a sound which cause the larger aperture. and the benefits of a shallow mouthpiece are not instantly attainable. The aistream also has to be utilized much more efficiently to see the benefits of a shallow mouthpiece. A player has to work to efficiently use a shallow mouthpiece much like a big mouthpiece. There is no right or wrong answer. If the player sounds good, can blend with the section, can last through an entire rehearsal and is comfortable playing a mouthpiece, and the mouthpiece fits the situation that is the correct one to use. and most of the great lead trumpet players use shallow mouthpieces. Vizzuti maynard bill chase and many others. This is just my way of thinking about lead trumpet and equipment. There are a million ways to learn and teach the trumpet and some ways work for different people you have to find the method that works for you to help you achieve your goals whatever they are.
  14. These are still for sale. also have a monette B4S mouthpiece for sale for $125.
  15. When changing trumpet mouthpieces you also have to pick the right piece for the job. If your playing classical music you should look into concert sized cup depths. 1 1/2c, 5c, 7c, 1c and other equivalents like a warburton 3mc, 4mc, 5D,2m then schilke 15, 14, 20, 24, 18,13. all of those would be great concert style mouthpieces. If your playing jazz or lead trumpet you should look into smaller mouthpieces bach 3e,7e schilke 14a4a, 13a4 a,15a4a, 6a4a warburton 3s, 4s, 5s. For lead mouthpieces check out signature mouthpieces of famous lead trumpet players any of the marcienkiwiecz bobby shew, roger ingram, eric miyashiro, chuck findley, mike vax, allen vizzuti would all make great lead mouthpieces. Lots of other companies have signature mouthpieces sizes used and endorsed by famous trumpet players. monette also makes lots of great mouthpieces. Remember though always use the right mouthpiece for the job if your playing classical music you shouldnt play a shallow mouthpiece and if playing lead trumpet you shouldnt play a 1 1/2c. Choosing equipment is all about what makes the making music part of trumpet playing the easiest and most enjoyable for you and anyone listening.
  16. post this in the classifieds youll definitely gets some hits with cheap used instruments
  17. I called shortly after posted previously and you said you were not selling them individually.
  18. Thats true. The SBT1 mouthpiece is pretty small actually. They are the only corp I know of that has a uniform lead mouthpiece that is actually small.
  19. This topic will have mulitple questions. How do you feel about uniform mouthpieces for a trumpet section? Do you think its a good idea to have lead trumpets play a large mouthpiece (1 1/2C equivalent or bigger) when required to play in the upper register a lot? Do you think it makes a noticeable difference in the sound of an ensemble if the lead trumpets use smaller mouthpieces or mouthpieces of their personal preference? Which Corps allow their lead trumpets to use any mouthpiece they want?
  20. Selling a King Silver Flair trumpet for 650 with case and a Yamaha Student advantage with case for 350.
