  1. I immediately think of Seven Lakes from this past fall, and that was really well done for them.
  2. I love anything in the 100s or 200s because I love the raw emotion and power you can get down on that level. The 300s and 400s are definitely a blend of sound and visual because you are around the judges level. Up top you get some of the bad acoustics from Lucas Oil but no visual is missed. Definitely closer to the middle is optimal up there.
  3. Can confirm on the difficulty of the brass book at this current moment. Lots of really impressive stuff in all the videos. Kevin Leboeuf has brought some heat to the line finally that might turn more heads. Probably lots of heads that have written the Cavaliers brass off for decades.
  4. I think we’re about two or three weeks out from the first of any reveal.
  5. I just threw away all of mine, but maybe I didn't find one and still have it. I would be a Cavaliers dotbook.
  6. Well if you sleep on the cobra you fall at Finals. So clearly for protection.
  7. The little video of the front from camp last weekend has kind of blown up on Facebook with 25.5k views. I don’t remember how to embed the video, but here is an attempt. Cavaliers 2018 Front Ensemble
  8. Just saw a video of the front playing 2013 music and it was insanely good. It’s from the opener when the music really gets going. Excited for everything I heard yesterday and today.
  9. What’s up from January camp? I’m not there but I’ve been getting the videos from being a donor, stuff sounds really cool. Don’t want to comment on volume as I know there is more than a double hornline playing at a time in a small gym. Of course the encore tune sounds great. Today is the last day of camp and there is still time to join inside access if you become a scheduled donor each month.
  10. The Chicago audition camp is this weekend. Good luck and safe travel to all the auditionees. Looking forward to the camp reports. Word is some of 2018 show music will be played.
  11. I was at the audition camp, probably saw or even talked to him a little bit. They sounded great at camp.
  12. We got treated to a really fun encore tune. So at least during encore we can’t complain that they don’t play a song in full.
  13. Auditions happening in Texas, heard the brass down a hallway in a gymnasium. Sounded good. Edit: Also hello from page 6.
  14. We just need to get rid of this bot, it's broken and worthless. Also I'll come on to the site and just leave because I don't want to search 12 pages deep for the thread I care about.
  15. A big move for the corps. Tend to find amazing talent in our Japanese auditioned and this will only make it easier for them. Excited about it for sure.
  16. If I didn't only get to choose my top 5, my favorite shows are: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1995, 1992, 1991, 1990, and everything in the 80s and before, because I respect for what they did to form the Cavaliers and the image they hold to this day.
  17. Favorite shows: 1990 Cavalier Anthems 2000 Niagara Falls 2003 Spin Cycle 2010 Mad World 2016 Propaganda Love these shows all for the visual execution. The music of Niagara Falls is what makes that show so endearing. Got the honor of playing the opener, Currents, as an encore tune. Spin Cycle is visually impressive, and love how the music grooves. Mad World convinced me to march. And Propaganda was just pure fun all season, especially in the stands for Finals Week. Honorable Mention: 2014 Immortal 2017 Men are from Mars Could have asked for nothing more in my ageout season. While 2017 was a lot of the same magic that Propaganda had. Least Favorite: 2009 The Great Divide 2012 15 Minutes of Fame Just some definite design issues for these shows.
  18. Looks like a great team has been put together based on the great brass work that his been going on since 2014.
  19. There is a tuba/contra player that I know who is currently at Crown who was in this scenario. He didn't leave for Auditions, he joined them late, but did have to coordinate a lot with the band on ho quickly he could get there.
  20. Tom Herman is the man to turn this program into a contender. I may have said the exact same thing about Charlie Strong...But with Charlie he turned the program around in a positive way, recruited great players while cleaning up the program. Time for Herman to make those guys contenders.
