  1. I'm an OC homer so it pains me to be brutally honest in public - but what I CAN do is agree with other people who are! During spring training, I thought that the turn-arournd brass impact in the ballad, right before they spell 237, would be a get-the-crowd-on-its-feet moment, and it SHOULD be, but it's just not happening. I agree that that whole movement is missing some cylinders. Maybe time to fix? I don't know. You and others have mentioned the lack of clear character/literal references and I agree, get a cardboard door every night and break it open with an ax! Or have a tiny MM ride a 3-wheeler and stop short of the twins. Something like that! Maybe the guard could bust out of the 237 doors with those blood-red streamers too... lol Danse Macabre is the bright spot for sure. I dearly love this corps and it pains my fingers to type this but I fear this show may not be a lock for semis. They have fallen well behind PC and Genesis with Music City nipping at their heels. It's go time OC.
  2. They really deserve it. They continue to delight me with that show! I wish them all continued success and this should be a very good year for the corps.
  3. Yeah some dedicated dial-in properties on sound equipment helps... but I don't have that, just TV on-board speaker.
  4. I was not impressed with the sound, especially the solos and features. The rest was definitely better than last year.
  5. OK show is over and this was my first on subscription. Flo was pretty good but if I can complain about one thing it would be SOUND. The sound has been better in the past... IMO. Camera work is better than last year. Sound? There is room to grow. Two things that were inconsistent: solos and section features.
  6. I saw them live at Drums of Fire and was like, Whaaaa. But tonight was different. It's growing on me too.
  7. I know right? You get caught up in the drama and miss the tricks.
  8. You are right. Stephen King stayed there with his wife and they were the only guests!
  9. OMG this is the first time I caught the corps logo at the end. NICE!!!
  10. That WOULD bring the house down... I'm just thinking of the materials burden...
  11. Wait a minute... that hotel was Timberline Lodge in Oregon... the outside shots anyway!
  12. Fingers crossed for OC. Hopefully they will be able to take advantage of this fortunate spot in the lineup. The show is loads of fun if you've ever seen "The Shining". Sell it OC!
  13. It's better than last year ... but I'm still seeing some closeups that either go on too long or were never a good idea in the first place. I don't need to see the pit changing mallets!
  14. "It's a dry heat" is supposed to mean... it's hot but who cares. But I know, it's still HOT.
  15. I really like that show. Nice run PC. I had forgotten how awesome the closer is!
  16. No, they don't usually delay because of heat - to my knowledge anyway, only if there is a thunderstorm. In the 90s or higher above much of the west right now, even all the way out here in Portland!
  17. California corps get an edge. OR and WA corps DO NOT. No bingo. It's an expensive haul for them!
  18. It is a GREAT venue... outdoors too. I've been to that show once and wish I could be there again but, sigh, I'll be watching on Flo.
  19. I briefly considered paying a visit to my dear sister who lives in Overland Park... just so I could attend the Olathe show. But then I looked at flights and that killed my dream in a hurry.
  20. Ashland? Yeah that was teeny tiny too, but that is 4 1/2 hours from here!
  21. Not even close. My show had Battalion, Columbians, Cascades, OC, PC, BK, Academy, Troop & SCV. Considering the big brew ha ha going on in the Ogden thread about scheduling, it would appear that with the absence of SCV & BK at this show, somebody got their wish.
