  1. I remember watching this in the theaters for the first showing and falling in love with their ballad. Ever since then I can only smile when I watch the show. Always catching the little small things like the color guard member sliding under the contra player, noticing the gold angel before they got rid of it, and then noticing the Angel from last year make a return watching them at Nightbeat. Every week they're bringing something new and I can't wait to watch them at finals. They're already bringing me to tears with two weeks left. :) I'm gonna root for the Cream team when it comes to final's placements but I sure hope this show medals! Keep in front of Phantom guys. Go Cadets!
  2. The color guard is going farther than just interpreting the music...they're interpreting THE SHOW THEME!!! As stated earlier in the season, the first half of the show is set to demonstrate individual achievement. Thus the reason you have the solos and segmented difficulty. The second half of the show is suppose to combine everyone together to show what can be accomplished as a group. Therefore, the brass line, percussion, and color guard uniforms ALL LOOK THE SAME. When people say they only see an ocean of cream on the field I have to restrain myself from hitting my head against the table because that's suppose to be the point of that segment! To say that there needs to be more color here, not seeing the color guard here, and comments like that is overlooking the overall point. I'm not particularly calling you out for this because there are a lot of others, but it's just interesting to see people complain about not getting BD's show and all the drama with that when people don't take the time to get Crown's show and all it offers.
  3. I think that's probably what they'll do. They may use it a day or two before just to get feedback on it before hand for last minute tweaks.
  4. I didn't say "no one can top crowns brass". I said it would be difficult...which is probably true. Crown's brass has that reputation. Like BD has the reputation of being clean. If you forgot, Cadets last year were still a tenth behind Crown in brass at finals but who won the Jim Ott? Food for thought
  5. Just look at the sheets. At Minnesota, BD did take all the main captions but look at where Crown was compared to it. Crown's brass book will be hard to top, their music analysis took first, and Percussion wasn't it's strongest BUT they achieved 4th. That's not that low honestly. When looking visuals, as EVERYONE is saying. BD was cleaner and it's true. However, despite being as "dirty" as most are saying, Crown still managed to hold second is most captions. Plus their color guard has significantly improved this year. If they keep that improvement they'll be on BD's neck. With that we have music leaning towards Crown and visuals leaning towards BD. However, each corps is down the neck of the other. The final case comes to General Effect. Crown took Music in the caption and BD took Visuals. So as much as people say BD is clean here and Crown is dirty. It's mid July and one corps strength is the others weakness. So by looking at the Regional stats it's still a toss up regardless of scores. As far as the TOC and regular scores, especially this year, I'll look at them but they don't mean much. With the new score sheets scores are going to be everywhere and this event proved it. No offense but SCV dropping that much in percussion? Crown's colorguard dropping almost a full point? Just a lot of "Are you serious" moments that just happened over night? This is what I summarized yesterday. Personal opinion but to me it makes sense. I think the judges tried to place BD a little lower than Minnesota but then on a grass field Crown didn't look as clean so they had to lower them also. It's Phantom's home show but Cadet's Percussion is saving them from Phantom passing them. Put all that together and it explains the top 4 scores. At the end of it, they're both close and have neat shows. How many people understand everything in Crown's show? Then you can't be mad about not understanding BD. Crown let out information to help people get it. BD just said figure it out and we'll help you. Can't wait for San Antonio to see the improvements they make towards DCI Finals.
  6. I personally respect all the Blue Devils do. When it comes to thinking outside the box and putting on a show they have definitely found a way to do that. The problem comes when we try to define was difficulty is and how the judges interpret that. In the end everything is laid down to interpretation. Me personally, I am rooting for crown this year but I watch the shows to decide. For Minnesota I called the top 5 perfectly (Almost got main captains right also but BD took music). Despite that, Crown was only behind BD by .5. When moving to the Rockford show, sure scores were a lot different but that's how the season is going to to be. New sheets, different judges, and all that fun jazz. In my opinion only regionals, where everybody is there, will show what true scores are. The rest don't mean anything (including TOC shows). Everyone isn't there. Not to mention there are judges that put .3 or .2 spreads between captions to separate people out. It happens. BD and Crown are gonna go head and head. Both have the shows to take it but there's always the dream team favorite. Just let both corps do what they do. Crown is a underdog trying to take their rise up. Blue Devils are the top champions. They'll prove themselves worthy once that drill is clean and they keep people out their seats come finals because it's so unbelievable. It's..."super natural". ;)
