  1. The difference of opinions re: bands vs corps may be a matter of ambiguous definitions. With the exception of woodwinds, what do people see as the differences between bands and corps? How have those characteristics changed or not changed over the years?
  2. Ahh yes. Several of us in attendance at finals.were wondering if they were the same props and what the arrangements were. Thanks for clarifying.
  3. I will put my butt and my family's butts in the seats at as many dca and dci shows as we can handle this upcoming year. If they were doing the old-style dca shows some people around here long for, I wouldn't be interested nor would I attend. Maybe I am an outlier in the broader potential attendance community. I don't know. I'm 27 and a former dci marcher and can afford the tickets so maybe that's part of the difference. Amps or no amps doesn't matter one iota to me--whoever sounds and looks the best should win. I would like to see audience enjoyment / reaction factored into scoring in dca and dci, but i thought that was supposed to factor into GE scores anyway.
  4. So exciting! Do you know what particular Shostakovich, Zimmer and Saint-Saens works will be featured?
  5. Good idea. You'd think that, if anything, the PA would have been too loud instead of too soft. Maybe they over-compensated turning it down for a smaller crowd. I'm not taking issue with the sound quality. It was just so soft no one around us could hear what they said. Bryan
  6. "I'd settle for a PA system that we could actually HEAR, some stadium ushers who could help people find their seats to eliminate the traffic jam at the concourse exits, and setting up an entrance on the side of the stadium instead of making everyone hike around to the ticket window entrance even if you already had tickets." Yes exactly. I agree. And for people in the concorse to not run around screaming their heads off so the people sitting near the top.of the stands can't hear the softer moments down in the field. But seriously, the super quiet loudspeaker was the worst. Otherwise, a very nice venue. Bryan
  7. Too bad about Kidsgrove. Bucs MBrass Cadets2 Cabs Empire Hurcs Fushion Atlanta Tampa Kilties I expect 1-2 and 3-5 to be tight. Looking for another class A win from Gold. Bryan
  8. Glad to hear they plan on sticking around. “And everyone knows you can’t disprove a rumor” ― Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why
  9. Which open class corps, if any, did not come to Annapolis last year but will be there this year and vice-versa?
  10. Rewarding bad behavior by trying to show up the system seems counterproductive to me... And I liked watching the renegades in Annapolis. : / Bryan
  11. To justify a theater broadcast, dca would need to improve the production quality. I.could envision circumstances in which I.would attend in a theater but it would have to be worth the price. Bryan
  12. It is important to have successful dca groups outside of the northeast / midatlantic. What is the most recent corps from outside this geographic region to begin operations and make finals? San Fran renegades? This will grow the fan base and increase competitiveness. To echo, teaming up.with dci.is a smart.move. bryan
  13. Out of curiosity, what's with the rush to buy tickets? I bought finals tickets at the door this year and got 50 yard line about half way up. Don't think there is enough demand to justify getting too crazy about it. :P Bryan
  14. 100% agree. Thanks for coming and can't wait to see you again! Bryan
  15. This was one of my favorite shows of the night. What a wall of sound and energy! I think the perhaps less-than-deserved score reflected some visual deficiencies but the music definitely impressed me. Now I didn't actually check out the captions so I'm not sure how the points worked out in the end. Just based on my impressions. Bryan
  16. I am a DCI fan, just watched the finals in Indianapolis last month. But I agree with the OP whole-heartedly. I wouldn't want to have to choose between the two organizations because they are just different. With that said, I also sat in the stands in Annapolis. I find the all-age groups, particularly the mid to high level ones, are more entertaining and impactful, even if less technically proficient. Bryan
  17. So glad this same amazing team is coming back! I'm super excited to finally come off the sidelines this year. See you in November. Bryan
