  1. Let it be reminded that Crown's new uniform change is not on njthundrrd's watch.
  2. Too bad that Pete Van Dorpe (now a chief in Chicago FD) and Craig Raisin and later others never got the credit they deserved for doing all of Brubaker's grunt work (charting, drill sheets, re-writes) while Brubaker got the fame for his designs on half of a cocktail napkin (always symmetrical presentations.) And all this was before his debilitating cancer.
  3. One of the DMs I understand. The long dark sleeve should be easier to be seen from the field against the backdrop of the variety of the audience.
  4. My questions still stand on their own and do not involve membership contract signing. Other corps have lost members (even vets) when certain changes of even lesser novelty were not to their liking, imaginings, dreams and hopes. IF this was not the case in CC, even more the import of asking what was the secret success used? Did Cesario show? How was all this explained? And by the way, many corps pre-announce themes as early as the previous year's championships. Crown does not, I know.
  5. How did the corps go about revealing/explaining the 2013 appearence to the marching members, especially the vets given how great a departure it is from the image of Triple Crown and since? Did Cesario himself come in to do his dance and showtime? Did the corps lose any members not accepting of the non-Cream motif for that very reason? (I can't imagine that amongst 150 young adults all opinions are identical, or are you speaking in terms similar to Congressional unanimous votes?)
  6. That's Pouncey, as his middle schoolers will be learning quickly amidst their crushes :rolleyes:/>
  7. Are you saying the CC is no longer the Cream of the DCI teams or are you worried that a certain someones will have no concord because they won't get Sweet Sixteen???
  8. I have a question about the stripe. Will it not be a neon light indicator of marching/movement ticks? Cadets are debating whether to go with/without the sidestripe which was dropped by many corps for that reason. Look how Cesario designed this for CC and how it goes right into the shoe. Is it not a blinking red arrow concerning fazing and such??? Everything visual will have to be perfect to win...
  9. Obviously, the expert on finances is counting more than spreadsheets.
  10. And since no one has mentioned you, Sam, are we to presume you weren't noticed? :devil:/>
  11. Love the music chosen and as performed. (I'm a Lovett-Cooper fan.) Hope the narration will be limited to just the beginning; the show doesn't need any more. Am holding off on opinions about the unis until I see the full field show outside first. under the lights. But I have heard the nicknames flow already: Purple-people-eaters, Purple-skunks (I guess the stripe down the middle thing they took from BD, Bloo, Troopers, etc., etc.) If Coates quote is correct that the stripe can be changed for each year's show, will the future bring us school bus yellow, or teal, or something as dramatic in the next few seasons? Depends on this year's results.
  12. Odd. No mention yet of Cadets drums on this thread. They used last year's whites for parade in Erie last weekend but different drums in Sunday's uniformed exhibition at Johnstown. (cf. photo below.) For those of you that missed the first broadcast, stay tuned!
  13. Cadets are looking for a trumpet and a mello. http://www.yea.org/s...ws_iv_ctrl=1002 (discounted tour fee of $2K) contact ASAP Cadets this weekend: Thursday inside concert in Allentown, PA. Ticketed event at Symphony Hall Friday, exhibition at Beefsteak fundraising dinner, Garfield, NJ (at the Russian Orthodox Church campus) Saturday, alumni association Memorial Mass for deceased alumni,, Most Holy Name Church, Garfield, N.J. 12 noon (open to the public) Saturday, Northern Highlands H.S., Allendale, NJ (off Rt. 17) uniformed field exhibition (usually a small donation at the gate) Sunday, Pittsburgh, Penn., parade. on the way to camp week preparing for first contest in Illinois.
  14. correct you are! I was getting so excited waiting for the video live from Johnstown and for news of the no-longer Cream from Ft. Mill, that I forgot to fact check. Sorry, I am doing my push-ups in between my laps.
  15. Aren't you supposed to donate them to one of the two corps???:thumbup:/>
  16. If Crown's new duds are not well received, they might turn to this which was trialed by the Harry Potter Lancers, http://abcnews.go.co...sibility-cloak/ But we may need a special session of the Rules Congress to determine whether Cesario would still get his commission.
  17. Unfortunately, those Californian cultists probably took your gentlemanly, courteous silence as awe for something you might have been thinking was awful rather than awesome.:sleeping:/>
  18. Even if Crown will no longer be "the Cream of the teams;" ???:cool:/>
  19. I imagine that it is not a leap of logic to presume that BD would be better prepared, less stressed, and noticeably more rested with less contest travelling and more practice opportunities. It might be good stuff for someone's thesis or dissertation project in sports psychology, etc. to compare the schedules of Cadets/Crown/SCV with BD's pre-Championships practices.
  20. Interesting that Crown will be billeted in Fort Collins for DATR appearance as the Fossil Ridge host has veteran instructor Nick Peterson who is on faculty and staff. He's a SCV low brass alum who then teched brass for Cadets (several recent years), BK, SCV, and several others, plus runs around the Western country as a band visual judge when he's not doing indoor CG judging gigs with Chumley and company. You can be certain the bathrooms and showers will be spotless and warm with no insects anywhere. (Some of his pet peeves, especially at BK who left him at a few housing sites to run after the departed contest bound bus.)
  21. Article on the corps' website admits that as of Friday they had completed 9 minutes of the show. They usually want 10 1/2-3/4 but usually have to trim down to 11. The bad weather is actually a blessing to help them understand the vulnerability and challenge the prop towers present since not all show weather conditions will be ideal or in a dome.
  22. ashevillemurphy, on 07 June 2013 - 10:41 AM, said:If you look at the photos on the [Regiment's] Facebook page ... there are several different sash designs ... some have no embellishment, others have what looks like "plus signs," and then there are a few that have what looks like the original design but without the silver/mirror things ... maybe they are still working on the final look ... In the PR (2) thread, Combia1 posted this: "If you look closely, the "plus" signs are two pieces of black elastic. This allows you to slip a single square mirror underneath and the velcro not only holds it in place, but makes it look like four smaller square mirrors. Clever." But I like wcmello99's comment above too.
  23. according to news released by the corps today (Saturday) online access of corps preview tomorrow, Sunday, June 9th, 2013 from Johnstown, PA is set to be at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time Zone, of course. At least nine minutes of the show has been completed before Trop Storm Andrea barreled through.
