  1. Good to hear! I wasn't sure what to think when I saw them in the theater last week.
  2. Excited to hear what some DCP people think of the show LIVE.
  3. OK. Thanks. I know it was a small show but wasn't sure.
  4. Was last night's show judged? I don't see any scores on DCI.org.
  5. I'm tired that EVERY corps has to have props. Why? The windmills in Boston's show are cool looking but they don't really serve a real purpose in telling a story - at least to me. Props can clutter up the field and take away from the visual of the drill. I wish they wouldn't be used so extensively but I guess that's where this activity has gone and will continue to go.
  6. Would like to see a video of their show. Any links to it? I can't seem to find any on Youtube.
  7. Totally get that. It seems like that happens in a lot of things that are artistic. It seems like "artist" types are very sensitive but can be very critical as well. It's just part of the make up of an artist.
  8. Maybe it's the stoning of Stephen who was recorded as the first martyr of the church.
  9. I just think they didn't really need to change the name. Does it really make the show more accessible or easy to understand? I just know that some of the titles of other shows don't really explain to me what the show is about and even after watching it, I don't get it.
  10. Yeah, "Awakening" sounds mature while "Statues Awakening" sounds kind of elementary. I mean, come on, "As dreams are made on"- hearing that really doesn't explain to me what the show is about but BD isn't going to change it.
  11. I must say the more I see this show, the more I like it. The color guard looks improved even from a few days ago. I can't wait to hear the horn line in person. I hope they incorporate more colorful flags in the program down the road. They could even use color to portray the emotional state of the statues as they experience "human-ness." I don't think it was necessary to change the name of the show though. No one else has to do that and I don't always get what some of these other shows are about even after hearing the titles.
  12. Great to hear! I pretty much like everything SCV does (some years more than others, of course), but can't wait to see them in Chester, PA on August 4th and at DCI East!
  13. So true. I hate to think that what has happened to The Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard and Phantom Regiment could be happening to The Cadets. All those corps were powerhouses at one time but have dropped. There's only so much room at the top and some of these other corps have stepped up their game.
  14. No problem. I guess we all just see things differently some times.
  15. OK. Now you're just putting words in my mouth. I never said that and you know it. I practically quoted what he was saying and you're amplifying it. I guess if they didn't know what they were doing, the Cadets would have been in last place.
  16. It does say that the members should go out and do exactly what they learned so they get an accurate representation of where they're at. They know they have a lot of work to do and the staff will help them to get better. To me, it sounds like they know they need a lot of work and want to know where they stand with the judges to make the changes needed to get better.
  17. Nah! Can't do it. I admit that I wish the Cadets were scoring higher but it seems like the staff knows that there needs to be changes and the video kind of hints that they need to know where they stand with the judges. Last year they started pretty strong and looked like they would win in the middle of the season but then dropped off by the end. So, if they start out "behind" and keep getting better as the season progresses, then it might be a great end to the season. Only time will tell. I'm not putting pressure on them to win. I just want to see it in person and judge for myself. I don't always like the champions show every year but do remember lower-scoring corps whose shows I liked better. It's really about personal preference.

  19. What I find interesting is that the judges are awarding the Bluecoats show which doesn't have a STORY. Last year, some people were saying you have to have a story or some deep meaning to win or score high. Looks like that isn't always the case.
  20. Great job, Bluecoats! Very innovative show once again and once again, I LOVE your music. Will this be your year? Very possible!
  21. Here's my prediction: 1. Crown 2. Bluecoats (.85) 3. Cadets (1.35)
  22. This video is better than the one I saw from Family Night. Better view and I could appreciate it more than from the first viewing. Still can't wait to see everyone in uniform so things pop more. Everyone looks the same sometimes.
