Not sure if getting Mediabox is worth it for me since I don't like any of the pre 2008 BD shows that I've watched/listened to.

Good to see I'm not the only one on here giving oregon crusaders some love. They had a great show this year.

Maybe there's a glitch in the system but I didn't order the DVD/bluray and I'm still able to view shows from Finals...

If BD mediabox has a full recording without the crap that FN did to it in terms of sound quality, I may just consider buying a recording.

Unfortunate that they're sacrificing sound quality. Is there a way to get a version of the shows without the bandwidth limiting? Is DCI selling an untouched version?

Audio streaming. It's hard to describe what I'm hearing. It's kind of like... On large brass hits it's a lot of power without the fullness of the sound. The sound is "trapped" and so I end up getting this slightly painful sound.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record soon if not already, but the edits DCI made to the 2014 videos have ruined all the shows for me with the exception of SCV which seems mostly untampered with. But before the stupid edits were made: 1. Blue Devils 2. Blue Knights 3. Phantom Regiment 4. Carolina Crown 5. Oregon Crusaders 6. Santa Clara Vanguard 7. Bluecoats 8. BAC 9. Cadets

Not really pertaining to copyright issues but has anyone noticed how much compression DCI has added to the videos? Why do they do it? Some of the big hits sound awful and actually physically painful to the ears to listen to.

Weren't they still using G bugles that year? (I'm assuming you're talking about SCV 2000)

I don't agree with you very much but I can definitely agree that 2008 Cavies is probably my favorite show from them.

2009 - I don't think I've ever seen anyone even acknowledge the existence of this show. 2010- over scored show but cool theme 2011- seemingly lame follow up to 2010. Musically boring. 2012- what even was this? Musically awful and not even good visually by cavies standards. 2013- nice opener, nice closer, what happened in the middle? 2014- marimbas is all I remember. Cool? Yeah. 2 out of 6 "cool" shows. As for phantom, I'd say 2010 and 2012 have been the only great shows by them since Spartacus so I guess they go 2 for 6 as well.

Yes actually. According a facebook post by Bluecoats and DCI, there were some bluecoats alumni and colts members playing there. I'm sure there are more affiliations than that.

Makes sense. I wish I had downloaded the 2014 videos before they made all the changes. I'll be sure to do so next year before they make all their changes to the 2015 shows. And yes DCI I think it's time DCI got serious about this. Having 3 minutes of someone's show taken out is absolutely ridiculous.

So it's currently 3:55 AM and I'm studying and was listening to some DCI shows and noticed that DCI made their post-season changes to the videos and I couldn't help but notice how awful the shows sound now.... It sounds like they toned down all the low brass, the percussion is a bit subdued, and the shows overall sound super-processed. As an example, listen to BD's closer on a good pair of headphones. When they form a block at the end and do a brief scatter before coming back into form, there's a small percussion break and for some weird reason, IT'S 20X QUIETER THAN EVERYTHING BEFORE AND AFTER IT. It's late so maybe that's why I'm being overly cranky about it but they really ruined half of the 2014 shows with their edits. The hornlines sound lifeless. BD's and Cadet's show (I can't hear any of the great musical details in that show that I was able to before in the percussion and horn solos) seem to have been affected the most. Is there a chance that DCI will fix this at all or are these the final versions?

If only SCV 2000 had Cadets 2013's hornline (and better horns than those available in 2000) to play that particular arrangement of Adagio for Strings... Then it really would've sounded magnificent. Trumpets sounded a bit pitchy in that recording.

Hah I couldn't think of a better word to describe Cabaret Voltaire than pretentious. Difference being, I absolutely loved that show after hating on it until the offseason. It's one of my favorite shows ever.

If you prefer a nice large brass sound, join Phantom Regiment! (Take my opinion with a grain of salt)
