I know it's way too early in the season to know, but I'm going to go ahead and predict that the Bluecoats end up in 3rd at the end of the season ahead of a certain corps that starts with a C and ends with avaliers. This is based upon nothing other than that bootleg video of the Cavaliers that was on google a few nights ago (and has since been deleted) and hope :)

Probably because they are not performing at a level to deserve higher scores.

At this point in the year last year the Cadets were around 4 points down from the Cavaliers too, and look how that turned out :P PS - Madison wasn't within 2 points of the Cavaliers at the same show until July

I told you that you should go to the Glassmen shortly after the 2002 season.

After thinking about it some more, I fit into 4 of those categories... My first corps was 'local' in that it was the closest corps to me. Then I jumped from that corps to the corps I aged out with because in retrospect they were my dream corps and also because I had some friends who were going there too. I guess as far as this poll is concerned I'm a mutt

Yes, the all male requirement originated because they were associated with the Boy Scouts, but past the 70s that was not the reason they remained all male. They remained all male because they wanted to, not because they were required to. The reason the 2006 Madison Scouts are all male is because they only let males in the Madison Scouts, not anything to do with the Boy Scouts.

Being all male has nothing to do with them being Venture Scouts and everything to do with them being the Madison Scouts.

Well, technically you do because you join the Venturing Scouts thing when you join. You don't have to be a boy scout to JOIN them, it's just a side effect. You don't have to be a boy scout to join Madison anymore than you have to be one to join Crown, despite the fact that both their members are 'technically' Boy Scouts.

Considering you can only be a boy scout until you are 17 I seriously doubt that is the case any more. There are several corps that are Explorer posts though (who have different age requirements), not just Madison. In 2002 Carolina Crown was one of those, and we had plenty of girls. I believe someone said earlier in the thread that the Madison Scouts haven't officially been affiliated with the Boy Scouts since the 70s. Edit: The members of Madison are registered as Venturer Scouts, but that has nothing to do with them being all male, as females can also be Venturer Scouts.

I think tomorrow night will be a lot more active waiting for the Cadets first score.

He wasn't the first to suggest Glassmen to you, although that is neither here nor there, hahaha :P In other news, I voted dream corps although that's not entirely accurate, but it's the closest to my odd situation out of the given choices.

This is probably a completely baseless rumor, and I should know better than to believe anything I hear about other corps while I'm on tour (except that BD has rehearsed in a swimming pool... d### them!), BUT... I have heard that as recently as a few years ago a good portion of the Madison CG were people who got cut from the brassline... does this have any basis in reality or is it as I suspect?

Whatever, I'm on death row. It's a bum rap though... some old guys claiming I helped kill drum corps.

"allowed to be amped" does not imply forced to be amped. It means the corps have the option to amp them if they want.
