  1. So...Bob, have you started looking for an apartment in Rochester or are you going to be able to drive the equipment back to SoCal? and Thanks to all you who donated...
  2. You're probably right, I was just going by memory and its been a while. But it was worth the trip.
  3. Back to things to DO in Rochester...Coming from California, I spent the time to drive to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame...about an hour away, but what an experience.
  4. Sam hasn't been involved with Dream for 4 years so an address from him is a bit unrealistic, but our director had posted an address as soon as asked. We do appreciate everyone's concerns and help in getting us on the road to Rochester.
  5. July 16 there is another California show. Roosevelt High school in Corona. The Academy - Tempe, AZ Blue Devils B - Concord, CA Blue Devils C - Concord, CA Cascades - Seattle, WA City Sound - Los Angeles, CA Gold - Hawthorne, CA Impulse - Buena Park, CA Mandarins - Sacramento, CA Pacific Crest - Diamond Bar, CA Renegades - San Francisco, CA Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets - Santa Clara, CA SoCal Dream - Fountain Valley, CA Velvet Knights - Pasadena, CA
  6. ...The final number was in Saturday in Walnut... personally I loved the show even better with an ending
  7. Bob's on the road bringing the equipment to DCA so he can't follow up. Family day was great, thanks for all the support from all. We had more spectators than some of our early start time competitions. See you all in Rochester...
  8. As in Freddie Mercury... we are playing Queen ya know, a lot-o-fun We still have a couple of spots open.
  9. At a parade this year, SoCal Dream was called Social Dream Drum and Bugle Corporation. That was a laugh.
  10. If you ban stands, SoCal Dream probably wouldn't perform. Want to dock us a point, no problem... We got the music two practices before DCA. We perform to perform for the crowd. All ya right coast people don't get to see enough of us as it is. We just want another chance to tell everyone we are at DCA Maybe we'll get serious about the competition some year but for now we just save that for the field show. Mini corps for us is just fun. Maybe I should disclaimer this because I haven't spoken with management about this, but If anyone at Dream cared about the competition, we'd probably get the music in June and practice it more. Just a side note to Sam's comments. Even when we played "show" music at minicorps, we had multiple people who were playing new parts or hadn't even performed with the corps during our short, early DCI season, before going to mini corps. It's just a blast to play infront of an appreciative crowd for a change, even if it does cost us each $750 to get there.
  11. I got pulled over at the Airport for lugage inspection, (the music stand in my carry on looked suspicious). The look on the TSA guys face as he pulled out 5 tribbles was very funny. :P
  12. It was great having you at rehearsal today. didn't get to talk 'cause I kept on sitting under the shade tent and when I finally remembered you were there, it was time to hit the field again. When my wife and I started marching with Dream, it had been over 25 years so we had a lot of the same concerns. The horns take some getting used to, what with 3 valves, but it's been a blast getting the chops back. I think I played better last year than I ever did as a kid. Practice is sometimes rough, but the new mutes work for most apartments just fine. Don't plan on being good over night, just have some fun and give it a try. I'll look for ya again sometime...
  13. Oh, it's deffinately early and, for the most part, a pretty empty number because we haven't been on the field with another DCA corps yet. But it sure is fun to see a number assigned to the work we've put into getting this show on the field. The biggest satisfaction came form hearing the crowd respond to the big push in the ballad. Oh that was sweet. And the grin on Thom's face, priceless. I don't think Friday's grin has left his face yet...
  14. And the key is G, as in Grande Let's just say the horn line grew some this year. and not just from 21 to 22 members...
