  1. I thought perhaps you were driving to Indy or something. I imagined, "JIM JIM STOP RIGHT NOW! PULL OVER TO THAT STARBUCKS WHERE WE CAN STREAM VIDEO! THERE'S DRUM CORPS ON RIGHT NOW!"
  2. Double decker basses are the new Sousaphones. She's playing both heads pretty well too!
  3. I love that they're back and seeming to enjoy doing their show. Two years ago, it seemed they were really struggling to keep the kids engaged, but these kids believe in what they're doing. They know they're not going to compete but they know what they offer these kids as an experience and music education and own it. This is a great show for what they are and do.
  4. Technical note. Flo audio seems very loud today. I've had to turn down the volume on the TV from where I usually set it.
  5. Nice picture of the catdragon. It's a charming show pulling from their French Canadian roots.
  6. Les Stentors props match the IWU Wildcat logo and make it look like a cat/dragon
  7. While I've not been able to watch the shows this year much (Flo coverage of Open has been ... sad), I've been watching the scores and things outside of the top seem super tight all the way down the line. The absence of BDB and SCVC at finals this year changes the 'cut line for semis' dynamics to make what looks like "southwind leading the pack but a TON of other corps in the mix"
  8. Les Stentors coming on. Good to see them back in action this year after having taken last year off from touring.
  9. Also, we get a higher view and centered camera at IWU in comparison to Michigan City. Were there particular reasons for moving it out of Michigan City?
  10. And here we go! Who else is here to chat our way through prelims? [I love my summer schedule flexibility]
  11. I do love that Plymouth hosted a show! I wanted to get up to this one but Dad and I had some other stuff going on. Dad marched in 1956 with the Plymouth-LaPorte (IN) Sabres American Legion corps. So having drum corps back in Plymouth seems...right. I did a post a few years back when we found one of his old pictures of the corps.
  12. Woo. Looking forward to this! The Flo has had a few Open Class corps at the World Class shows but I've not seen most of these since the early West shows where the California corps show up.
  13. It really is. It's reminiscent of the Crown flag feature across the back field where they were hauling at the end of Inferno.
  14. Crown Cavies BAC I think we'll see Crown and Cavies quite close with BAC a step back tonight. All three behind SCV.
  15. SCV wins percussion. Crown wins brass probably a fairly good bet. BD v. BAC in guard is gonna be a slugfest.
  16. A lot more Flo closeups for BAC than other corps it seems. Every time I see the brass or battery there's almost a 'ok ok ok keep it together' expression. Every time there's a guard close up there's some "yeah, we're this good. you gonna make something of it?"
  17. The guard...stellar as they have been all season. But they're doing this book in a way that shows the brilliance of the work as an accent to the music. It's almost as if the music was written to the guard.
  18. I know. And just kept moving like it never happened. Total boss.
  19. GUH! That close up of the rifles catch. I think the one gal caught that thing with her fingerprints.
  20. Drill into the Crown set is madness. Crown really brought it!
