  1. You do realize that, literally, EVERY single second of their show last year was about the south. Right?
  2. No need for a source. I used my eyes. It was a very big deal on a discussion board that made DCP look like heaven; when it was going down.
  3. Eh, I could be wrong, BUT Even thinking back on main sets that didn't change in their texture/quality they got moved forward/back/left/right. The wedge set is a good example of that.
  4. This statement is false. Although there was a time early season when they were waiting for the arrival of new euphoniums, they MOST DEFINITELY marched euphs in 2003.
  5. Not a single page of original drill was on the field by finals night.
  6. The thread itself IS someone looking for information on picking one over the other. So yes, it IS a contest of who is better. Especially in regards to which organization, specifically, to audition for. This is not just some random thread, this conversation has context and relates DIRECTLY to the information the op requested.
  7. Thankfulness is not an indicator of superior treatment in one organization or the other. It has been largely noted in this thread and others, the difference is easy to see in rehearsal. If there was a contest with cereal as the reward, it wouldn't matter...The Cavaliers would probably win it, such is the trend.
  8. Cute is that you have yet to explain how Phantom Regiment treats its members superior to the Cavaliers.
  9. Please keep our passive-aggressive banter to the current conversation thread. Otherwise, it will be moderated away, and that's no fun.
  10. It is an important distinction. Down play it all you would like, but the fact that members are treated better at one organization AND are competitively superior is and SHOULD BE a large factor in deciding where to go. This is just a common sense thing, but that concept is hard to understand for sadists.
  11. I'm glad guard has come so far since then. That is cringe worthy.
  12. Well, I sat out to add up just how many points that the Cavaliers have outscored Phantom Regiment in contests since then, but the calculator doesn't have that many decimal places on my Windows 8 machine.
  13. http://corpsreps.com/ 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 He acknowledges that The Cavaliers members receive better treatment, acknowledges that the Phantom Regiment treatment is brutal and some of the "most difficult moments in your life", and in doing so is showing that that treatment is unnecessary because The Cavaliers have repeatedly destroyed the Phantom Regiment in the last 15 years.
  14. You do realize you are basically acknowledging the way that Phantom Regiment treats their members is pointless sometimes and the "most difficult moments in your life" could largely be toned down. Otherwise, the group wouldn't have spent the last 15 years largely losing to The Cavaliers.
  15. Showing your age there. Retreat has about as much relevance to current DCI members as G bugles do. Like I said originally, The Cavaliers largely reject that nonsense. Funny, they were right, it is all but gone now.
  16. The Cavaliers have more fun and get more done in less rehearsal time because they use their time efficiently. The staff and administration largely treats the members like adults. The group is fed well, receives tons of long water breaks, and generally keeps things in perspective. The Cavaliers largely laugh in the face of, and ignore the ridiculous militaristic crap that drum corps still do that make them "bando". Then there is the Phantom Regiment.................
  17. And next to Cavaliers 2001, one of the worst played shows of all time. Poor kids couldn't march and play well to save their lives in either season.
  18. Marching a bunch of 1.25 and 1.5 step CURVILINEAR DRILL will do that. What non-sense, and he's singlehandedly holding the group back. But hey, that's okay, because he's a likeable guy. Plus, the brass guys like him because of course groups blend better when there is no distance between the members.
  19. My 2015 prediction is bold. But, considering they were sniffing 9th place until some interesting judging at the end, not as bold as it seems. Phantom Regiment, breaking a LONG tradition of top 12 appearances, fails to make finals.
  20. The irony being that PR just decided to bring back the staff members responsible for the bad guard that Adam had to save.
  21. Sorry, Jon and Zacharia. You're affiliations with the corps were under a different caption head, so do not speak like you know the specifics of the current situation. Locked legs are not taught, but are largely ignored. No surprise since the caption head himself was guilty of it as a member.
  22. Because nothing says visual excellence like Spirit in the last 10 years.
  23. John Blair is the same one who was claiming the Judges Academy was a scam and was posting all over facebook that they were stealing money from people, completely unsubstantiated. To call him a troll would be an understatement.
  24. One of the oldest tenured staff members (Dan Farrell) has a very close friendship with one of the young men that marched a long time with the corps and became a caption head (Josh Scott). Tenured staff member puts a lot of stock in the young man and his decision making and personal/professional friendships with others in the activity. The staff is slowly becoming all of that young man's friends, no matter what point they are in in their professional careers. Basically, one Texas BOA band director is ruining the organization, enabled by someone who wants him to succeed because he is an alumnus of the corps. The old man is blind to the fact that this allegiance is slowly killing the corps competitively and it means that people not well suited for roles are coming on board in droves, because they are his "friends". To compound the issue, the young caption head himself has bigger fish to fry with how the group marches. They march with locked legs, through the hips. Have horrible inconsistency from performer to performer, foot phasing, and a visual vocabulary that is laughable in the activity.
