  1. He loves performing. It's always a blessing watching your kids do something they love.
  2. Gold is staying at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Anderson Indiana.
  3. I was commenting here on DCP from the stadium. If you heard people yell "Let's go Dre!" when my son took the field, that was me and my wife and some nice people we befriended that was behind us.
  4. I was there! Lol. Wore my hat both days. Just landed back in SoCal. I was in section C row 14. About four rows below the pressbox on the 50 yd line.
  5. He feels he made the right decision. As long as he is happy, that's all I care about.
  6. I hear you on that one. The football coaches at my son's high school were trying to recruit him hard to play. Hard to tell on flomarching, but my son is 6'5 250 lbs, and his fro makes him look around 6'7 lol. The coaches wanted him as a linebacker. But he had fell in love with music. We still watch football every weekend, but he has given up playing.
  7. My son had zero interest in drum corps growing up. I took him to a few shows, he could have cared less. He played football growing up and that was his first love (still is). But it changed when he started junior high and he had to choose between dance or music. He was hellbent on not doing dance, Band teacher said she needed a tuba player, he said ok. Next thing i know he is bringing this big *** tuba home..........rest is history.
  8. We have had some good dogfights in a few of the past several seasons. 2015, BD came from 4th place at quarters to win finals night. 2016, was a three corps race with Bloo/BD/Crown all within a point of each other all three nights. 2017, even though BD was undefeated, SCV pushed them every show and made BD earn it. 2019, BD and Bloo had a old fashioned Ali/Frazier 15 round slugfest to the very end.
  9. Congrats to Gold on their highest placement ever, and their highest score in corps history. Gold also made history this season beating BDB, Spartans and SCVC earlier in the season for the first time ever. Job well done to all the open class corps. Last couple days of competition was nothing short of phenomenal.
  10. My son is starting his freshman year in college next week at Cal State Fullerton. Majoring in Music Education. Wants to be a high school band director one day.
  11. Ok 7th Regiment, Anchor on the 40 yd line, Sailor swabbing the deck, another Sailor handling the lines...........this Navy Chief approves! Bravo Zulu Shipmates! Job well done!!!!!!
  12. Yea we are OK. Everything was fine. The guy was totally cool. He took responsibility and apologized at least 30 times. But we made it.
  13. Almost missed Colt Cadets! Some chucklehead rear ended our rental car in the WalMart parking lot. We got to our seats just as the drum major was doing his salute. I hate having to rush.
  14. Absolutely!! Gold has nothing to be ashamed of regardless of placement. Same for all the corps. They all did a phenomenal job yesterday. I enjoyed everyone.
  15. Currently at the hotel. It's been raining all morning. Not raining at the moment. Gold is staying at their hotel and won't rehearse due to weather.
  16. I was very impressed with Southwind seeing them live last night. Sadly what's going to happen with all these Open Class corps on Thursday is big score drops when they get thrown in the fire with the World Class corps. With 20 WC corps, we know at least five OC will make Semi's. Now the OCs placed sixth and below, how many of them can pick off some WC to get a Semi's spot on Friday. We will see.
  17. Great job by everyone tonight. Congrats to SCVC. They earned it tonight fair and square no excuses. Love seeing the Cali corps go 1,2,3. On to tomorrow night!! Game on!! GO GET'EM GOLD!!
