  1. Seemed pretty dramatic to me at the time. I guess you had to be there in the church.
  2. This is MY favorite performance of Nimrod: Blue Knights - July 8, 2012 - Daniel J Burke memorial service. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-m2VG2ydhybRjVLM3RINjJHUEU
  3. He did, but I figured that could change since they've announced.
  4. 1958 is also right around sunset...Denver time. "This Thursday...when the sun goes down..."
  5. Correct...at least as far as the music selection goes, though I don't think anybody will be surprised or amazed at the selections. (the percussion piece will be an exception to the "drumheads") I'm guessing they fit whatever the show's theme is. To me, getting all worked up over the music selections without considering what the show is all about is useless. For example, without knowing the story behind Avian, knowing that BK was going to do Firebird Suite would get a..."Oh, cool. I like that music." reaction from me. But add the music selection to the story and the theme of the show and THEN it really means something that they are doing Firebird Suite. One thing I can't talk about is how well BK is playing the stuff. I just don't have the knowledge. But one staff member told me this bunch is MUCH better than past years.
  6. I can't speak about thematically because I don't know the theme of the show. Musically...I'm not a musician, but this is the way I see it: The music in their last three shows have been a combination of music including well-known composers, well-known singer-songwriters...but all pretty modern stuff...as opposed to classical stuff. This year's music is much the same. I will say that it seemed a bit "dark" to me. Mark did speak about them continuing and building on the style that BK has developed over the last few years. The "steroids" part is my take based on the guard bits I saw.
  7. I went to show and tell yesterday. Very nice. 1. Guard showed off bits they are playing with. Increased guard/hornline interaction. 2. They played three music pieces...one of which showcases percussion. That one is sure to get comments this year. 3. They will be announcing in the next couple days. I don't know the name of the show or the theme, but from the music selection, guard work and comments from Mark Arnold, this show is going to be their last three seasons on steroids.
  8. For me, it was BK DATR 2012. I had never been to a drum corps show before in my life. It was raining off and on. All the corps did standstills...until it was BK's turn. They came out and did their WHOLE show. I don't know a lot about music, especially classical music, but I love to listen to most anything. I'm a big Sci-Fi fan. Their show...the bird race...the comet...their journey to a new home...the metamorphosis...the Firebird Suite...WOW.
  9. I've been holding off this year and I haven't been to one of their show and tells yet. This is good news to me. Now I'll make sure I'm there in April to see the opener.
  10. I don't know if this has anything to do with BK's uniform for their DCI season this year, but this appears to be their uniform for their Bahrain trip next month.
  11. I don't have sympathy for anyone who is disappointed or feels trolled that there was no show announcement. Heck, BK NEVER announces this early. Me? I expected this food truck announcement. Believe me...it's a big deal for BK. And, I might add, a pretty sweet trailer. AC, slide-out, actually designed to be a mobile kitchen. It's pretty darned nice.
  12. Don't forget BK, either. They very well could surprise everyone this year and move up a notch. The pressure in the top 6 is VERY intense. edit: Whoops...I just saw your prior post in which you mentioned BK. So...you didn't forget BK.
  13. Some BK color guard in there. http://www.wgi.org/featured-story/02052017-Cypress-Ind-Shares-Super-Bowl-Stage-With-Lady-Gaga.html
