  1. At this point, Bloo is a wildcard for me. They are performing well. The show has not hooked me as quickly as past shows, but their designers have earned the benefit of the doubt.
  2. Boston needs to do something about all of the very visible squirming/futzing inside the middle prop while there are other things happening on the field. It’s a big distraction from what should be the focus. A simple cover or screen will do it.
  3. They are definitely rebuilding well. It won’t be long until we have three east coast powerhouses.
  4. It’s hard to make such a prediction based on no shows (yet) with all of the contenders. They’re all good. It’s going to come down to the rankings/spreads in the subcaptions. The only one I’m sure will medal is BD. Crown’s brass is stellar and adds greatly to their GE. Boston’s brass is really excellent. The question is how many brass lines (if any) will be ranked between Crown/Boston and widen the spread. Boston’s guard has yet to hit their stride, but they’ll likely end up in the top 2. Crown’s guard is no slouch, and will be near the top (again, the spread matters). Boston’s percussion shows promise, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against SCV/BD. Crown seems second most likely to medal (behind BD). Boston needs to prove themselves against Bloo and SCV to secure a medal. Loving how good everyone is this year… and that we have another few weeks to watch them develop.
  5. When was the last non-California undefeated season?
  6. Good question. I’m expecting Phantom to start climbing
  7. I had you pegged as one of the newer farts on here 😛
  8. Taste is such an individual thing. Boston has a much neater and uncluttered look on the field this year. The white unis also add to a certain “sterile” feel. I find this show to be high in style, variety, and emotion. Get chills every time they roll the props in WAWW.
  9. I agree that BD is going to be tough to beat, even though the top tiers are crowded and competitive.
  10. Since Bloo beat Boston, and Crown beat Bloo (with not many captions split), it seems like Crown will be competing with BD for 1-2.
  11. No one rests easy when Cavies are scoring nearby. As good as Boston was in 2019, Cavies were better in brass and percussion, and arguably had a more emotional show. In 2022, Boston is much more competitive in brass. A(nother) Zingali is within reach. And percussion — which suffered a series of unexpected setbacks in 2019 and remained in spots 7-8 — is credibly in the conversation for a Sanford. The show design is also their most sophisticated yet. Love Cavies, but my money is on Boston finishing higher in 2022.
  12. Imho, this is the best corps, and show, Boston has ever fielded.
  13. Am I the only one who had a slight panic at the sight of woodwinds on the field??? Thinking did they change the rules for open class?? Oh! Phew…. Green Beret Marching Band. 😥
  14. Same tier unless either beats Bloo in 2+ major captions.
  15. Boston’s best design ever. Huge step up in artistry. This will be a big year.
  16. Who ever is in charge of Blue Stars’ sound did pretty much everything right. The balance and mix of the amplified sounds was spot on. Every note was crystal clear… at least through Flo.
  17. Loving this show. Design pulls one in, and the performers are nailing it!
