  1. This is interesting. I thought the baby boomers were the most progressive generation to date. Hello. Woodstock? Peace? Love? Was it the boomers that fueled the change for gender inclusion in so many other corps?
  2. My favorite Beatle. Here comes the sun... Wish he did vocals more Wings from Paul was genius too...but not the Beatles.
  3. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to blast the Bluecoats playing Elanor Rigby and Come Together down Dave Grohl alley in Warren,OH. Off topic but I love Them Crooked Vultures (Dave on Drums). Imagine Bloo playing that.
  4. I respect what the Beatles did for the music industry. That being said there are only a handful of Beatles songs I enjoy. I am also a huge 90s Alt rock but don't listen to much Nirvana AND I think Dave Grohl is one of the greatest rock musicians of all time.šŸ¤· It's a matter of personal preference. Anyway I saw the scores from tonight and go BLOO! This show is electric.
  5. Let me catch you up @kkrepps Just change the 19 to 26 and add more fuel to the fire
  6. This is true- but the decision makes the Cavaliers completely unique now. This could help them since they now offer a completely unique experience or it could inadvertently put pressure on them to make changes too. So while this is about the Madison Scouts it does impact the Cavaliers. As I have said before the decision is completely up to these private organizations and I would hope that it stays that way. I think autonomy is important.
  7. I have seen females play male roles before. Just sayin' This thread is getting ridiculous.
  8. Let me sum up this thread for those that don't want to read 18 pages of talking in circles. A. Some posters are in complete support of Madisons decision to be gender inclusive. B. Some posters believe that regardless of this decision it will not fix the deeper issues in the organization. C. Some posters are upset about this decision and think that it will be detrimental to the corps identity. Groups A,B, and C argue with one another for 19 pages.
  9. Next year "The Bluecoats: Encore" which will feature a almost completely original show except for instead of having a brief preshow- they will have a post show and while the percussion and guard tear down the hornline will sneak in front of the field and blast "The Boxer"..."I am leaving but the fighter still remains" That piece should have been the closer in 08 anyway.
  10. Edited the last part of my statement because it was taken a lot farther than I intended it to. Took out the "get a ring" as I wasn't trying to start WWIII- just trying to make a point about not being eligible to be a part of the "best corps" for ladies my age.
  11. Nah. I was replying to a previous post about an educator possibly having to tell his talented female students that could be big scouts or Cavies fans they had to go somewhere else. I liked the 00s Cavies and I knew I could never be a part of that so I can relate. That's all. I'm not pushing for either to change as they are private organizations and I believe for their own freedom and autonomy and forced inclusion would violate that. As this is about the scouts- my simple statement is with the boy scouts being gender inclusive I am not surprised with the change. I think they can easily continue to produce some of the most fun, in your face, fan friendly shows.
  12. Right and over half of those were 00-06. Otherwise it was sporadic
  13. Yes. Actually there were 3/7 years there. But still not good odds. And the Cavaliers shows those years were A LOT more fun. Thanks for being such a nice guy and pointing that out. And thanks to everyone laughing and liking too.
  14. Yes. Cavaliers were king when I was age eligible (roughly 01-07). I knew I could never be a part of that and it was hurtful especially when you are raised to believe women can do anything they want.
  15. This. I would think if boy scouts are coed than it was coming for Madison soon. It just makes sense. It's not like women aren't capable of being a part of an organization with such rich traditions. I was in a co-ed service fraternity in college. It was fine. By the time they let females in it will be 2020. PS this will also help with any discrimination towards transgendered individuals for membership qualifications. In other words no one will ask if an FTM individual qualifies for membership.
  16. This show is genius. I do think it gets a slow start though. I am nervous that this will be another Inferno story. A great show that is clearly the fan favorite-winning going into finals night. Then BD wins. If BD doesn't win- it will be the first time since 2005 that they didn't win again after getting 2nd place the year before and the first time since 06 that we went 2(+) consecutive years without BD winning. A new era in DCI
  17. Anyone at the Lisle IL show able to give me a run down of Strengths and weakness on Bloo v. SCV. I have seen both on the interweb but that's not the same. SCV seems to have incredible member talent and a good music book but Bloo has very good member talent and a more entertaining show.
  18. I would say if they finish 6th then yes, one of the deepest pools. Cavaliers seem like, if they finish 6th like they could have one of the best 6th place shows too, or Boston, or whoever. There have been some incredible 5th place shows recently that either had one thing holding them back or it lost momentum or just didn't quite have the legs to surge. 2011 Juliet, 2014 OOTW, and 2017 Jagged Line come to mind immediately. In the case of Bluecoats/Crown they were both coming off of a championship and had some of the best member talent in either corps history. OOTW is probably my favorite hornline of all time and as mentioned in the other thread the visual demand in Jagged Line was crazy. I think SCV has crazy talent like that this year- but will the show design hold them back and let them fall?
  19. Definitely didn't see Bluecoats over SCV in brass coming. SCVs brass is fantastic this year. Cadets percussion= excellent. Looks like Boston is running 7th in that caption.
  20. There it is. Very tight for top 5 and I don't think Cadets have to worry about Blue Stars. Bluecoats are up but I wouldn't call that a comfortable lead esp with BD out there
  21. GE is a huge advantage for Boston and they are scoring higher in visual across the board v Crown. I think that Bostons brass is close enough to Crown that it won't be a huge factor down the stretch. (Score wise...I love Crown brass) Bostons percussion score is...ouch. could hold them back.
  22. Wait. I just about went deaf sitting in the front row last year. Louder this year? Is that possible?
