  1. I actually believe they can medal. SCV is in their sights. The weekend will tell if this possible or not. I believe it is!
  2. I have not gotten any indication they are sweeping this under the rug. Doug made a statement... now they have to follow the process of dealing with the accusations. I have said before... there are gaping holes in the story (not about the incident itself or the member) but by what the parents claimed. Not sure what more you would like them to do at this point (asking for understanding not criticizing your comment).
  3. Crickets on the show thread... unless you follow college football or like Chuck Norris jokes...
  4. And there is no brass judge so there's that. Tonight is the night where we begin to see where everyone stands head to head. I am expecting a great run... the rest will take care of itself! It's a Show Day! LET's GO CROWN!!!
  5. Yes... that rookie Jay Kennedy who has only been judging since ... of 1980? And what has Richard Saucedo ever done in this activity... jeez!
  6. They 85 Cadets did rehearse as much if not more than the other corps. The 84 Cadets rehearsed less because of lots of bus issues spending time on the side of the road.85 was the first of the championship years where they were loaded in all sections across the corps (battery was the laggard in 83, 84).
  7. Depends on the panel configuration (seeing lots of 5 personal panels with smaller number of competing corps). 8s could be wild in this scenario (88).
  8. Lots like the rankings page takes into account LAST NIGHT's scores which were not used (I believe) when the order was determined.
  9. And this can change depending upon the Judge.
  10. It has been subjective for as long as there have been judges (percussion got rid of the tick system in 1984 and some would argue that THIS was subjective). What is valued changes from over the years. Parking and playing was not looked on favorably fro a long period of time. Now it is. Most people would agree it is easier to park and play (and move and not play) than to move and play at the same time. Then you add in degree of difficulty of the music/drill and then see if it all makes sense from a construction standpoint. Crown has a more visually demanding and complex show... it is more musically demanding because the music is challenging and they are moving at the same time. What we do not know is if, as they clean up, this will be rewarded or if we are continuing down the Broadway/Cirque du Soleil pathway.
  11. No your statement is because your are missing the entire discussion. Not what I am saying at all but if that is all you can understand so be it. I am saying the demand is different and how or if it is rewarded has changed over time and how/if the demand of Crown's show is rewarded remains to be seen. The scores last night reflects the fact that it very well may be. Time will tell.
  12. Nope... saying they way they judge is evolving (as it has over the past decades). What is rewarded from year to year DOES change. Let's see what is valued this year.
  13. More likely SA... I expect to see movement throughout the week across the top 12 from the SA seatings to where they actually end up.
  14. Not technically wrong... using my eyes and ears as are others. The visual demand of Crown this year is higher than any other corps regarding field coverage, velocity, design. That is quantifiable... tempo, check. field coverage, check. design complexity, check. These are facts. Get out your Dr. Beat if you think I am incorrect. Whether it receives the credit from the judges remains to be seen.
  15. Right? It is only the first time we get 8 of the top 9 corps all in one place at the same time! Although probably better off since I spent most of last night yelling at the TV because Flo kept stuttering then stopping performances.
  16. That is some travel for SCV... From Memphis... to Kansas and then back from Broken Arrow on Tuesday for the biggest show of the year. Wow
  17. And I forgot that YOU quoted Yogi Berra who was know to wonder over to the Bloomfield show and peer over the fence...
  18. Dennis Delucia, Michael Cesario, Bobby Hoffman, George Zingali, Tom Blair... anyone else?
  19. Matt Harloff was not impressed by the MA score last night either. I am sure this was a point of discussion during critique...
  20. So far in this thread in the last 24 hours we people have quoted... Dennis Delucia, Michael Cesario, Bobby Hoffman (amongst others)... who's next?
  21. Time will tell... IMHO the visual design and demand is way ahead of the others. Whether or not this is gets any credit with the judges remains to be seen. It does not change the fact that they march and play way more than the others in the top 6 (again... my opinion that I know is shared by others).
