  1. I just think it's definitely a safe assumption. Lol. Corps song, anniversary, same lyrics as the show title; it just lines up too well.
  2. I would assume Somewhere Over the Rainbow would be part of the rep based on two things. 1. Anniversary season. 2. "Where trouble smells like lemon drops, a way above the chimney tops, thats where you'll find me."
  3. I don't think SCV is in a financial state to even try to attempt any sort of attorney fees to try and sue anyone for defamation. I mean, they just got their debt paid off...or so they're leading us to believe. I won't believe it until the 990s for the 2023 tax season are released. Bingo or not, if they could pay off the debt in this short amount of time, then what was stopping them from doing it over the last few years other than mismanagement?
  4. Entire overhaul. Completely clean sweep and clean slate. As "tight knit" as the organization claims to be, there had to be some sort of info floating around the entire organization. A clean sweep means cleans slate to start rebuilding from the ground up, which is what needs to happen.
  5. Not in denial. Not angry. Not really bargaining for anything. Certainly not depressed. Only time I'll accept something is when SCV goes defunct, which is something we will all have to accept if/when it happens. Really, I'm just speaking my opinion based on the facts. Nice try at being cheeky though.
  6. I absolutely wish none of this happened, but it did and we can't change the past, only make change for a better future and until SCV does that, instead of rolling on with the same people employed, they've lost every ounce of any dignity they had left in my opinion and 100% of my support.
  7. Until they clear house, I don't give a #### what they do, they've lost my support. When you still have a single person on staff who was involved in this whole fiasco I still won't support SCV. They literally failed the ones they're meant to "serve" first and foremost, the marching members. They've lost all credibility with just that in my eyes. The debt has been "paid back" according to them, now it's time to clear house completely and start over again from the ground up while the opportunity is still present before they screw everything up again and SCV disappears forever. Until then, my hands have been washed and dried.
  8. I think you mean "Up, Down, and All Around".
  9. Your examples are older than Game of Thrones. Also, lets not forget the spinoff show House of the Dragon, so they very well could use the theme from either shows.
  10. When I was in high school, a little shorter than 35 years ago, we practiced M/T/T/F 3:30 to 7 unless there was a football game on Friday, then we went until 5:30 that day so we could get ready for the game. The week of state championships or nationals we would go until 8, including Wednesday. If you attended church, you'd go and come back to rehearsal, and just because rehearsal was supposed to end at a certain time didn't mean it was going to. I remember multiple times practicing after the streetlights came on during Hell Week (championships week and nationals). Multiple state championships, only made nationals semis once. We also rehearsed on blacktop. The band still adheres to the same schedule after 3 different director changes. Most programs in my area adhere to the same general schedule. That being said, we also had heat regulations as well. If the temperature was above 92 degrees outside we were inside rehearsing music in the gym unless we were on the grass that day. If we were on grass we had 10 minute water breaks every 30 minutes and multiple canopies placed for us to have shade.
  11. UIL already does this for Texas marching bands, limiting after school rehearsals to 8 hours per week beginning the Tuesday after Labor Day.
  12. There are 3 other founding corps that aren't around any longer and no corps or organization bailed them out to keep them alive. Caring is one thing, having another corps go belly up because everyone expected them to help their fellow corps out (again, when they did this to themselves) is another. Helping a corps with a necessity on the road is one thing (also something that shouldn't have to be done, but we do have the occasional idiot running a corps). That is completely different than the corps having a multi million debt and people expecting other corps or organizations to bail them out.
  13. The question really wasn't towards you, but just in general. I'm not saying good riddance, because I would hate to see them disband because of their own negligence. I'm just saying they should be the ones to dig themselves out of the hole they're currently in. We've lost many great corps over the years, even in my time of following since the late 90s, and no corps nor DCI stepped up to bail them out so what makes SCV the exception here? That's basically what I'm asking.
  14. I never said it's not anyone's business if the activity shrinks. I'm just asking why is it another corps or organizations responsibility to bail another out when it's their own fault that they didn't take care of things like they should have at home? SCV only has SCV to blame and nobody should expect any corps to bail them out, nor the "governing body" (term used loosely) of DCI itself.
  15. Doesn't respond to my person, but then responds anyway. 🤦 It's okay though, I'll be the decent one and continue the conversation with you even though you want to continue to be rude. Non-profit and for-profit are still businesses. It's not silly, as you don't see other non-profits bailing each other out every day. They're not banks. That's basically robbing Peter to pay Paul. Finally something we agree on! DCI doesn't care about the little man, only those that will turn a profit.
  16. Why would they? Why should they? You don't see McDonalds giving a handout to Wendy's. The same comments were made when the SCV news first broke, about why other corps weren't helping them. Again, why should they? Why is it their job to help them out? Why would it have been DCIs job to help out local circuits?
  17. I just find it funny how people are so quick to point out that Crown fans still show animosity towards BAC, yet nobody mentions that BAC fans have been targeting Crown fans on here since half the staff went to BAC. Hell, I've had BAC fans target me at a gas station after a show that Crown beat them at. Why? What's the point? Just like why is it even a big deal that Crown doesn't go into the Northeast anymore outside of Allentown? Yes, I trolled, because I find this argument absolutely ridiculous and not founded in fact as several others beside myself have pointed out that Crown has in fact travelled to the Northeast in recent seasons. Maybe not as much, but who cares? This argument has surfaced a few times over the last few months/years. Why are you so hurt that Crown doesn't make the trip? The people complaining about it (mainly BAC fans) have made it very obvious that they do not care for the Crown organization, so why complain?
  18. Do you do this for other corps when their threads get taken over? Awe, too bad! I love fishing! I definitely use facts as repellent though. They definitely keep the bug bites away. Funny though, you didn't mind commenting on BACs defense? 🤔
  19. Just because Crown hasn't been to New England in years doesn't equate to "they only compete in the southeast". Someone must be buying that good good up north, because their first three shows are VERY MUCH in the Midwest, not the Southeast. So let's talk about facts here...because someone clearly can't read a regional map correctly.
  20. No matter what they do at this point there is going to be some sort of negative feedback, and honestly after how they ripped off their members they should definitely be on the receiving end of some negativity regardless. They're going to have to do a lot more than just "get their #### together" for them to be in good standing in the majorities eyes at this point. If that's what they even want, because at this point it just seems to be money grab after money grab until further notice.
  21. Well saddle-up cowboy, because your opinion has already been proven wrong once before so I'm sure it'll happen more often around here. 1. Sure traditions are important, but traditions change, which I already said so I guess you're just going to interpret what you want out of posts on here. 2. I don't know what cleaning has to do with anything on here. I believe the word you were looking for was "cleanse", and based on proper English annotations, one would recognize what I was trying to do, but this is an example of the American education system failing the average American. Either that or you just didn't care enough to pay attention in English class. 3. I guess we're skipping this number. 4. Check number 2, because that was intended as an insult, however mild it may be. Edited to add: If your enjoyment of drum corps is based on headgear, then maybe you'd enjoy a Hat Convention rather than drum corps. Just my opinion.
  22. 1. Drum corps traditions come and go, are born and die. Just like everything else in life. This doesn't mean that any new fandangle should be considered a failure. Even in an opinion, it's still negative. 2. Many of you that support the activity can agree all you want, but the fact of the matter is you aren't on the field anymore (if you have ever been), and the kids who are marching today have no problem with not wearing something on their head that neither adds nor detracts from the product they are putting on the field. Again, your opinion that it is a failure. 3. I didn't resort to insults. I put quotations around certain words to ensure that it would be obvious that I wasn't using those words as insult, but rather quotations from other members of this forum. Others used it before me without the quotations, again indicating that I wasn't use them in a derogatory manner, so why not go after them? 4. Nobody is saying that you aren't entitled to your opinion, but when you bring negativity to the forum maybe you should take a step back and re-evaluate your approach. Not a "youngin", just refuse to become a stick in the mud.
  23. But does an opinion or preference mean that the topic at hand is a failure across the board for everyone? I think they meant that it's the usual "Back in my day" type of thread/post that we've come to expect from the "dinosaurs" of the forum. As in "DCI was only good when they did the things that I like", which again is an opinion or preference, and doesn't equate to failure across the board.
  24. IF they can afford the staff. Just because the debt is almost fully paid back doesn't necessarily mean that they will have the funds to field a corps. They need to worry about their finances before they worry about making it to the field. All publicity is good publicity, until you can't find good publicity anymore and I fear that the days of SCV being in good standing might be behind them after the shenanigans they've pulled recently. The foundation is beyond repair at this point in my opinion, and it's only further downhill from here even if they are able to field a corps in 2024.
