  1. I think any corps that hires Rick Bays should be kicked out of DCI after the ######## he put those kids through this summer. I am a teacher that takes kids on the road all the time and never, EVER would I put their personal health on the wayside to keep the corps going. DCI stops corps from touring such as the Troopers yet they let this ### clown keep going. #### that. Oh, and those three that I posted about, people change jobs all the time.
  2. Marty Redmann should be the next director of the Madison Scouts. He is an alum, was a wonderful performing member, and has done great things with the board. He also knows what the Madison Scouts were, are, and what they should strive to be. If not Marty, Mike Leofelholz or Pat Seidling.
  3. Oh...I see...well...I knew about those other lyrics...
  4. Did you honestly just say that 1812 Overture has lyrics? Maybe in some bastardization arrangement, but Tchaikovsky DID NOT write "lyrics" for this piece of music. Are we sure we are talking about the same PIECE?
  5. A song is something like Take the "A" Train, or It had to be you...a piece is something like 1812 Overture or a Mahler symphony. I believe that is what people would say
  6. BY FAR THE ALUMNI CORPS! That's like asking what was more exciting, watching a Yanni concert or watching the Madison Alumni Corps. It's a non-comparison.
  7. No...number 2 was not a joke. And as far as Cesario...GONE COMPLETELY!
  8. I chalk it up to several factors. 1. The guard is terrible. They are embarrasing. They are the same type of guard as 2002. Fire the guard staff, they're not working. 2. THey are marching Myron Rosander drill. Is that bad, NO. Problem is since they changed the marching style after 2002 it is very ##### for lack of a better word. The "old" style at least had a scrotum. Was our drill always clean, no, but we didn't have people teaching us to march like pansies. Sorry 2006 brothers, but your visual staff is teaching you to march like miss nancies, well...at least the guys who never marched the "old" style. 3. They fired...i'm sorry, forced Scott Stewart to resign because of his "direction" or what they considered to be a lack of. THey bring in Michael Cesario to "bring back" the "Madison Style". Cesario is the furthest thing from knowing what it is or was, or ever will be to be a Madison Scout. His plan to bring a championship to Madison has done nothing more than cause this corps to lose its identity. If anyone needs to go, its him. Keep the staff, fire the program coordinator. The problem is not the 2006 Madison Scouts, it's the influences that are being pushed on them and their "image." It's high time this corps return to what it was and should be. Sal...your a beautiful person, you know what your doing, but I am sorry, Michael is NOT cutting it and his ideas are embarassing. <POST EDITED FOR FILTER CIRCUMVENTION--PLEASE, DON'T DO THAT. LM>
  9. Drum is no longer entertaining, it's simply a popularity contest decided by "fans" who get their opinions from the judges. Considering the number of folks that say "I haven't seen corps X this year, but they're not good, haven't you read the recaps?" as though a recap is an accurate assessment of a show and we should all base our opinions upon these "hallowed" numbers from a bunch of people paid too much for their OPINIONS when they in many cases have no formal training other than as a marching member. That comment is geared towards judges that "know" what they're talking about because they marched a lot of years. I don't believe in drum corps anymore, maybe I should simply not write on here or support the activity anymore. What do you all think?
  10. 1997 was not familiar music, well other than Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates Life For ME and the Popeye theme? your post doesn't make sense saying 1997 was recognizable?
  11. I must say, I have heard many people wine and complain and say bad things about you boys this summer, and I will admit, when I heard that the uniforms were changing yet again, I was scared, and I said things on this forum that were not the best statements for an alumni to make about their corps. Then I saw the pictures and all those worries went away. So last night I saw a clip of your show on season pass, as I am not going to see the show live at all this summer :( I must say something, and I am sure many people on drum corps planet will disagree with me, but you guys remind me of a year that I marched. The year was 1997 and we were not doing a latin show... :sshh: we were doing some pirate show with a bunch of original music. How dare we? You should have heard the people talk, many of you who are marching now were probably too young to even know! But by the end of the season we had maxed out and had a great performance at finals, and if I cared about scores, those judges had no idea what they were watching that night if we placed where we did. I digress. I am writing to you guys today to say that you guys are great! Your everything a Madison Scout should be and everythign that the tradition should be. If the Scouts truly had an identity it would be that they should do entertaining shows that the members enjoy and the audience enjoys. I can tell by the look on your face that you guys enjoy what your doing! Your great and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise! and always remember.... "You don't tug on Superman's cape!"; "Fool with the Lone Ranger's mask!"; "Spit into the wind!"; "Mess with Dorthty ruby-red slippers!; "French kiss with a rattle-snake!" and "You don't_____ with the MADISON SCOUTS !" MYNWA!
  12. I hate it, I would rather march on the turf that Rome, NY had in the late 90's, that stuff was beautiful, like marching on dry cardboard.
  13. This is wrong, we did not have to adjust the Fleur De Lis as we did not hit one until the first note of our fanfare. We came on teh field in 2 company fronts and then folded into a tower for our warm-up, then back into 2 straight lines. So the jag off only messed up our straight lines.
  14. Bring it... Here's mine: 1: Phantom Regiment 2: Bluecoats 3: Madison Scouts, come on, I know you all want to tell me just how stupid I am! But, a guy can be proud of his brothers and not have to answer to a bunch of people who have elitist ideals that cause them to think that they have the be all, end all answer to drum corps reasoning.
  15. I don't understand how I wrote that these "___________ are going to win DCI, you tell me why" posts are lame, and my post got moved, yet others can put up things such as notabando are going to win, Spirit, Madison, Cadets, etc. and they stay here.
  16. After looking at the recap, I can see why Scouts ensemble visual score is so low, in the 70's Gary Czapinski was fired from what I hear, and since then he has held a grudge. I wonder if this story is actually true.
  17. No...i'm with silver king, I want to see it tonight
  18. I believe it is a reference to "typically" having shows without top 6 corps for a rather extended period of time at teh beginning of the season.
  19. Not being a jerk, but there are no shows today, so no scores will happen until June 20
  20. Wow, people can't handle facts, sorry that I ask people to be accountable.
