Really like Crossmen this year. I'm especially digging the arrangements. I'm assuming Chuck Naffier is still writing for them. Good, good stuff!! -

The sound tonight, for me, is just fine. Not much different than last night. -

Thank you, Troopers, for allowing us to hear your 16 contras, instead of the synth doubling your part! I know I would be so mad if I marched contra in a corps, paid thousands of dollars, worked my butt off, and yet was never heard. I have a big problem with that. Troopers, you showed us it's not necessary!! Wind through the instruments, when applied properly, works great!!! -

BD. WOW! Best I've seen of them maybe since the 90s. Just so well integrated and seamless. Firing on all cylinders. They truly owned the field when they stepped on it. Everyone else just paid rent. I can't believe I'm typing this, I'm such a Regiment honk. -

Exactly. So mic placement is thrown out. They just sound incredible. And the individual marching technique is so very consistent across the ensemble. Those System Blue are simply the best sounding horns in DCI. -

Blue Devils are just another level, both in design and talent. I haven't been a fan of them for many years, but this year I'm totally sucked in!! And they sound line the freaking Blue Devils of old!! Wow! -

Really impressed with the overall sound of the Vanguard hornline though tonight! -

But that flugelhorn has been flat every single time. -

I've heard all these corps live two weeks ago, and they all sounded better then than on FN tonight. So many intonation, ensemble, balance and tonal concept issues tonight. This is from EVERY corps thus far. Disappointed. Just checked Weather Channel. 68 degrees. That's good. 88 percent humidity. Bingo. -

Every time I hear that opening solo in Regiment's show, it's flat. Cold flugelhorn maybe? -

I'm still bothered by the ensemble stickouts in every corps. It MUST be the mics. -

Hearing more individual stick outs than I thought I would at this date. Mic placement maybe? -

Videos quality I superb. Sound is good but seems behind the video a bit on my end. I'm streaming from iPad via Apple TV -
Great review! I wish you had stayed for The Louisiana Stars encore, and let us know what you thought. We are very proud of the work these kids have done!

I loved Crown 2013. This year's show made me cry. In Bentonville, AR, when the soloists traded while on trampolines spread across the field, I was moved to tears. The difficulty (and I KNOW how difficult it is) coupled with the fact that these are kids, moved me. When the hornline entered, spread across the field with perfect entrances, articulations and intonation, I figuratively threw my heart on the field. Thank you, Carolina Crown.

The Colts sound very very good. However, that hornline only plays for about 6 minutes total in the entire show. The rest of the time they are strictly a visual entity. And I love the show! But, please. You hold a brass instrument to play, not to simply visually emote all over the field.
-
Man this sound is killing me.
-
Just a question. I'm not getting the whole field on the FN feed. Is it my settings or is it like that for everyone else. I'm missing parts of lots of forms.
-
I think someone heard our cry!! Volume is much better since Regiment!! Thanks to the FN guys!!
-
Yes!! Please turn up the volume!! Much too tame on my FN feed. PLEASE!!!

DCI HOUSTON - Hot, Humid, & Happening!

So is there no immediate individual corps encore tonight? I understood that happened last year at TOC here. -
Does anyone have the actual times for step off? I'm planning on showing at my band room on the projector and 7.1, but I need to know if 6:30 start is MT. Thanks guys. Hope it doesn't rain!
