  1. I agree with point 1 after my first season (and I had issues). Point 2 I am ok with but I can honestly say for the most part people always got back to me relatively quickly (thank you). point H, I am still going "what???" (and thats after I read that it was a gag) the only thing I honestly didnt like were the changes in the last week. I say changes stop before finals. I ONLY say this because it was next to impossible for me to get recaps of DCI in time to make any changes and then find a way to get those back to someone, so i didnt at all (maybe why I got 13th and missed finals) BUT if people actually go to finals and dont have a lap top--it is pretty darn difficult. Talk about needing a 24 hour hook up! AND I say this knowing FULL WELL I will NOT be at the Rose Bowl next year and that by 2008 I will probably finally get a lap top! LOL I say this for anyone who may find themselves in this same issue in the future. Other than that, I dont need to add flutes, change the age group, add 25 more members or allow nudity (although my corps will continue to push the envelope on that last one once and awhile! :) )
  2. OMG did he really say that?? OK half the time I find myself defending SOME of his ideas, but that is just DUMB!
  3. Um I work for a bank and it AIN'T THEM! so anywhere BUT Bank of America stadium! LOL
  4. I wanted to wish everyone on behalf of myself, the Knights and the entire CLASS organization a GREAT Championships and the best of luck--I can truly say this has been one of our hardest seasons on record being up and down and all over the place! We can only hope all of our corps are lucky enough to even finish in top 12 of their divisions, say nothing of a win. All of you truly are a class act! We are packing up the luxury land yacht and heading on from CLASS Headquarters in Lewiston Maine bright and early in the morning--as is Knights tradition, we will be bringing lobsters and Moxie to celebrate championship night and we always invite the winner to join the lobster fest FREE of charge, come on over and have a lobster on us! Unless it is us and then we get TWO each!!! Thanks for a great season!
  5. exciting to me that we will have atleast a few fights for the top spots in Madison in Division I and II !!!
  6. What day do we need changes in by--I am not leaving until Sunday, so i will have my finals changes in before then, but when do we need to have the 130 points used by?
  7. at the preview of champions 14 corps tied for first place in GE Music. Are judges getting to liberal or too nervous to pick a winner? What is your point of view? How much money, I mean work does it take for a judge to give you a higher score than other corps?
  8. GOOD FOR YOU--I am glad the fight is working in some places! What band was that? I am in Maine too, my high school band was cut back in 93 (MtBlue High School) when I was an instructor. We tried HARD to keep it, but Farmington is a little back woods to see the importance of keeping a music program. One thing that always got me was question of success. We had WON in 90..then had a few leans years, so they cut us in 93. Can't we have some rebuilding time? On top of it they looked at the "number of kids in the program was shrinking". Yes that was true, we had gone from around 100 down to about 30, but which off those kids sat on the sidelines and were bench warmers like in basketball, football and other various sports that only play their "stars", NOT A ONE! you can pay for a program that directly touches 30+ kids lives or a program that touches about 15, but you get to hang a banner up in your gym, guess which one wins...
  9. It wasn't pretty at Montreal--for anyone who missed it or saw the live feed...we were polite when we said "very dissapointing" show...however CLASS is perfect willing to offer full corps sponsorship...all you need to do is sign on the dotted line, but after that we own your soul! ^0^
  10. oh we did--I am sorry about the entire corps pants suddenly dropping at once as we went by your busses--never seen that happen before...we will be sure to get the clamps fixed... :P
  11. Oh I know--thank you for that! I just meant we rocketed from 39th not 33rd to top 5 somewhere! FINALLY a come back from the corps I was about ready to poke with a stick and see if it was DEAD!
  12. We promised a great show at the CLASS Championship and we delivered!!! Here is a review of the nights show: Division III 3 Cape Cod Regiment............. 18.75 18.62 15.70 15.50 14.00 15.70 16.10 16.80 84.269 3 Cincinnati Glory.............. 17.30 17.10 15.70 15.50 15.90 16.10 16.10 15.30 81.700 Cincinnati Glory and Cape Cod Regiment started off the night in a head to head competion--one on one...having won in the Canadian Open and Ottawa, it seemed Glory was a shoe in, but the complete 180 Cape did paid off big in their first win of the year at the CLASS Championships. Division II 2 Lake Woebegon Crusaders....... 18.75 18.20 15.70 17.20 15.90 17.75 16.80 16.93 87.088 2 Sunset Sound.................. 18.75 18.62 15.70 15.50 17.00 17.00 16.10 17.90 86.969 2 Les Blanc Chevalier........... 18.75 18.62 15.70 15.50 17.00 16.90 16.10 17.90 86.919 2 Edison Lamplighters........... 18.30 18.20 15.70 18.00 17.60 15.70 16.10 16.80 86.450 Lake Woebegon Crusaders pulled off the upset in Division two after placing 3rd in the Canadian Open. The corps looked SHARP tonight particularly in brass and visual ensemble. Sunset Sound continue being strong off the Canadian Open win and narrowly placed 2nd by .119. Les Blanc Chevalier can not be dissapointed at their home show placing 3rd, especially by a margin of .169 off from 1st place! Edison Lamplighters held strong in 4th but just tenths off making division II the tightest it has been at the CLASS Championships in years! WELCOME TO DCP CLASS! Montreal, QUE (CLASS Championships) 1 The Knights................... 18.75 18.62 15.70 15.50 18.98 18.32 19.05 16.80 89.544 1 Phantom Blue.................. 18.75 18.20 16.90 19.14 17.00 17.75 17.18 17.20 89.532 1 Cross......................... 18.75 18.62 16.90 15.50 17.70 17.75 16.70 18.69 88.989 1 Sunrise Surf.................. 18.75 18.62 15.70 15.50 17.10 16.90 19.05 18.69 88.836 1 Resaca Pessimists............. 18.93 17.30 15.20 14.80 16.40 17.00 16.80 18.40 85.527 1 Amelia........................ 17.30 16.40 17.50 16.40 16.00 18.32 15.80 18.65 85.033 1 Oakland Skylarks.............. 13.90 13.10 14.60 13.20 13.30 13.40 13.30 14.20 68.000 Division I Amelia started out the night and took a step up from where they have been placing well ahead of Oakland Skylarks who had a very dissapointing show...Resaca Pessimists (who we neglected to put on the program--we are VERY sorry and are sending an official CLASS trophy of achievement to show our appreciation for your coming to the show) edged Amelia out with a very strong GE Visual show (they won that caption). The top four corps were extremely tight as Sunrise Surf took 4th with their Movin Out show which is sure to put them back on the map. Cross was probably the favorite to win the show as they were coming in slightly ahead of Phantom Blue, but Phantom Blue was able to flip the tables back again and opened up the spread by just over a half a point! But in the end, the surprise of the season came from the Knights who jumped from about a 39th place national rank to win the show by .012!!! The KNIGHTS were BACK and on fire! The CLASS friendly crowd went NUTS that the Knights will finally be able to defend their title and maybe bring a title home from the new league! The crowd definetely had a night filled with changes, surprise and STIFF competition! Thank you all who attended and we will see you on the field SOON!
  13. YES! The Knights went from like 33rd to looks like 2nd in ONE day!!! gotta love this show!
  14. I havent seen the show in person yet and only seen the clip explaining the uniform and the show on a live feed, but I do have to say that while I like it and it fits the theme--it does look pretty busy...I have been pretty torn on it because if it were a modern dance show I'd say great, but it doesnt seem to POP from field to stands...but since I havent seen it live yet, I am only a partial critic...
  15. That is pretty funny actually! It was just hard for me because I really did enjoy the show--I can only think of a handful of Blue Devils shows I HAVEN'T enjoyed--but yowza yowza yowza---TOO MUCH for me!
  16. Thank you yet again...I also am compelled to point out here--because you MARCHED in drum corps--and because I am from MAINE where I honestly had no idea I could even JOIN a drum corps until it was pretty much too late does not make this activity YOURS and not mine. FANS keep this going--and if your no longer in a corps, then thats all you are now, just like me, no better, no worse...I have been ADDICTED to this activity since the late 80's and have seen lots of changes, some I like, some I don't but yet I feel the corps get more and more exciting each year...because I didn't march, i dont have a clue what I am talking about because I only know band? This is a youth activity--these kids are INCREDIBLE ---ALL OF THEM and I am reminded that each year...my point is, as I stated and as you mostly neglected to discuss--the corps that are the most copied are the ones that are most succesful--somehow, I dont feel that the current standings put Cadets or Crossmen in that category as much as I may or may not wish that was the case---
  17. I agree--and its ironic since I have long moved beyond band and in to drum corps (I am at far more drum corps shows than band shows each year)--even more over missed is--I never said I liked! I said some like it...I can think of a million Cadets shows alone I liked better...I just think people are a little too freaked out by change--especially when only a few corps are doing it or sticking with it
  18. The first thing I'D do if I wanted to win the title was go copy the corps that is in 5th place and struggling! or hey better yet, the corps that always used to be in top twelve and now is 14th! Get over it--its different--some people like it some don't, thats life without about EVERY event out there...I highly doubt it will be the new trend for corps or as some people have said will ruin the activity--Blue Devils ANNOYED me with their yowza yowza yowza crap last year and I loved the show--but guess what--back to what works this year, aren't they?
  19. Nice review! I saw both Jersey Surf and East Coast Jazz in Beverly and I was very impressed for that early on, but unfortunately have missed all the others due to the cancelations we have had this year! I couldnt make it this week or likely this coming weekend, so thanks for putting me in the seat!
  20. Judging by the scores the Knights performed their sneak peek show on the Busses with A/C!!! ...I had to be back in Maine until tonight--so I assure I will get to the bottom of that poor performance! Maybe the judges need A/C? I know more of the complaints have been from RAIN this year! Too many rained out shows!
