  1. Drum corps is a passion, a challenge to put your best on the line, a place to develop life long freindships with other people that only truly know what our disease it really all about. Having been involved in both circuits, I can tell you when something is good, the goose bumps still hit me no matter if they happen during DCI or DCA. Just because you graduate college, doesnt mean you stop learning. If you love to perform, love the activity, just plain do it.
  2. I predict that there will be almost as much beer consumed this year than 96. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend. But both of these years will be the highest in Rochester History.
  3. Boy, this thread certainly brings back special moments in DC. That night, the emotions were so high for many reasons. Great performances by many, the end of a great season, friends seeing friends they have made through the years. I will never forget the emotion I felt as the Cabs played that night in the parking lot. This group was a pleasure to be around the entire year. I am not sure why I was conducting, but it certainly was something that was really special. I remember clearly the cop coming up and tapping me on the shoulder, and when I turn, it was my first instinct to keep conductiong and talk. I pleaded with him that it would be in HIS best interest if he let the group blow off some steam for the 12 minutes it would take. He told me to stop moving my arms or he would arrest me, so I did, being a law abiding citizen, and would never drink a beer in a open parking lot. :) Well let me tell you, that is when the goose bumps really started. The corps just kept cranking, the crowd, and a I am not sure, but it seemed like the majority of the Buc's where behind me, and the crowd many, kept getting louder and louder. The cop then yelled at me to MAKE THEM STOP. All I could do was laugh, knowing that the it would now take the national guard to come in and stop this group, and try and plead with him. I told him at this point I couldnt, and he should just should let it go for the ten minutes. He then turned away, shaking his head. The only thing that really bugged me, was the fact that the idiot interrupted a great musical moment. I know that is why we all do what we do. To be in the middle of such passion from all points, with friends, wow, my heart is thumping just remembering it. Thanks for keeping the story alive. I better go and take my Blood pressure meds now. 4. Not in any specific order, but here are a few people that simply amazed me everytime I heard them. They all were performers that you could count on. Frank Ponzo Cabs Curt Hawkins Cabs Hunter Moss were ever he is DCI-DCA Genevieve Danis Bari solo Brigs John Giradi Sky Roger Grupp MBI Jerome Kimbrough Bush Dave Martin Empire Donny Allen Empire I am sure I forgot a few, and I apologize if I omited anyone.
  5. Spirit to this day was the loudest, most balanced, in tune hornline that I have ever heard. When they played Let It Be Me, the sonority that came out of that hornline was incredible. What a real treat if you ever got to sit in front of that corps for a music ensemble rehearsal when they just played.
  6. ^0^ TO all Cab hornline members, if you have time to type on here, you better be making time to BUZZ THOSE MOUTHPIECES!!!!!!!!! At least be doing the iso's when you are typing!!!!! Have a nice day!!!!!! hehehehehehehe
