  1. I liked the Largo. Soloists give me chills.
  2. I was there, but I was almost at the top so it was hard to hear some audience reaction...but I do remember there being...gasps? at the score announcement (I was one of the gasps, but a happy gasp) and perhaps a bit of hesitance before applause. I would think it was at the score, not at the placement. Nobody in their right mind thought the Cadets wouldn't wind up on top.
  3. OK someone shared with me where I can upload stuff for people to download... the original Cadets clip is at... http://rapidshare.de/files/9207706/cadets01.mp3.html The page is a little user-unfriendly, but you should be able to figure it out. PM me if you have issues and I can email... Enjoy!
  4. Hey, if anyone wants a clip of the original recording that was posted, I've saved it using a sound recorder...not the best quality, especially when some percussion bass gets going in the midde of the clip, but it's there anyway... private message me and I can email you the clip I guess? I don't really have anywhere to post it... I assume that is legal, it was publically posted by The Cadets first...
  5. Anyone ever gone back and looked at older occassions from other corps of 2 lines approaching each other...just doesn't seem the same after Boston has done it...look at Cadets 97 for example...I think in that case it was 2 lines approaching 2 lines...but they just pass right through, nothing happens... And for good measure, '...'
  6. Why oh why don't you guys perform on Finals night, that's when I'll be there :'(
  7. Cadets - ZPull, a-yuh...and the square or diamond (depending on year) that goes crazy (97, 98)...and the toilet bowl (98, 99, and 96 to a certain extent) Cavies - they don't really recycle much do they? But they did use the diamond cutter two years in a row (99, 00), and that ROCKS Phantom - collapsing diamond and into the kickout (too many...89, 90, 03.....) hmm....
  8. Yeahhh...I'm not sure that will work, because these clips play themselves in the browser window using Quicktime, I don't really know if it's saveable??? I can check again when I go home this afternoon, as long as the power doesn't blink and my computer resets itself b**bs
  9. Yeah, that's a good one, too, especially the opening and closer (Trivandum, is that what it was called?).
  10. Yeah, I love both of those. The box around the door that morphs in 4 or 6 counts into a * with the door in the middle and the hornline hits that wonderful chord...that always makes me smile. And their rectangle that travels forward and gets warped, then the box starts to reform front to back...like that one too. Can't wait to watch the DVD and rediscover much more from all the shows.
  11. I don't pay ALL that much attention to the percussion section specifically, but some of what I thoroughly enjoy (and you'll notice that I tend to pay attention to 1983 forward, no offense to those who came before, there's just SO MUCH to listen to as far as DCI goes)... SCV 2004, 99, 89/88 (my all time favorite book) Cadets 2003 (my GOD), 94, 93, 92, 88 Cavies 90, 92 (yum), 95, 00 Phantom 88, 89, 93, 96!, 03 (my second favorite book) Glassmen 98 and I'm probably leaving a lot out that just aren't coming to mind at the moment... A note about Cadets 05...no doubt a very very clean line, but I don't particularly like the arrangements around the Industry part (drum break and such), they're SO busy that the arrangements sound...cluttered to me...so that it doesn't sound clean to me...specifically the snare line solo and the tenors solo... (again, I know they're playing them near perfectly, it just doesn't sound good to me).
  12. Yeah, definitely hints of Jim's New Life from Empire of the Sun. Wonder why the clips changed. The old clip is: http://web5.streamhoster.com/yea/decemberopener.mp3 I still have it open in a browser, so I assume you can click on that link just fine... EDIT: nevermind, that link is the same as the current link! hm, well I guess I'll keep the window open and try to figure out a way to...keep it or something...
  13. Sheesh, way to bum us out! :( But I do want to go in and edit out that hanging soprano in PR96 (the mello or baritone in PR93, oy...) for my listening pleasure...
  14. Cadets 95 -- All John Williams -- The Rievers, Born on the 4th of July, Far & Away, 1941.
  15. The show, especially the music, entertained me. I couldn't care less about innovation, creativity, or meaning. But that may just be me.
  16. ugh, i was on the road when they finally came on. i wanna see!!
  17. are they gonna show the actual parade?? im tired of these musicals...
  18. It may have already been asked, but is anyone cataloguing (sp) all these many many photos? Heck of a task, but it might be worth it!
