  5. We loooooooove..........aaaaaaa........ALLIANCE!!!!!!!
  6. If you are in northern VA area and play a brass instrument, come on out to the next rehearsal and bring all your friends!!!!!! You say they are small and not a top corps??? I say come out and make them a big corps and let everyone hear how good they can be!!! Next rehearsal is Dec. 4th from 12 to 5!!!!!!
  7. Open house went pretty well. If you are in the Northern VA area, come out and play with these guys!!!!
  8. The upper brass folks are pretty cool but the lower brass folks don't play well with others and refuse to carry DOT books. I know Pete has some kind of AARP waiver or vetran's preference thing going for him. :P DOT BOOKS?????
  9. I would like to do it, but I don't really have a means to get all the way up there for rehearsals/shows.
  10. Has the "Gold" "Alliance" been born????? We need to bring a black and purple shark next year with a freakin laser on its head!!!!!
  11. No pressure on the mouthpiece helps a lot also....let the air do the work!!!
  12. I'll try to post a little review this evening when I get off work...
  13. Well said Dave... Thanks to all the corps!!!! Music City Legend sounded and looked great!!!! Can't wait to throw them in the mix next year. CorpsVets have a awesome hornline as always. They will definitely be a force in Scranton. Heatwave did really well also. Sounded like they really had the crowd into the show. They seem to be on their way to defending thier Class A championship. Carolina Gold is coming..... Didn't really get to hear anyone else over the weekend. Can't wait to see every one again!!!
  14. The smaller bell horns just don't have that resinate dark sound because there is less metal vibrating.
  15. Aren't all of their sousaphones fiberglass?? I don't think I have ever seen a brass one.....
  16. A 6 1/2 is pretty standard. I still play on mine on my small trombone. It all depends on what level you are at support wise. The bigger mouthpieces like the 5G have a better sound if you can fill them up. If you have played on a smaller mouthpiece for a while, it will usually take a bit for your chops to adapt to the difference. They will wear you out faster until you adjust!!! If you like the 6 1/2. don't use the adaptor. Buy a large bore 6 1/2. I like the 51D myself.... Played a Benge 1 1/4 H when I played bass bone in a big band a few years back. It was great!!!
  17. I'm interested in the 3 valve bari. I sent you an email and you never answered??? Let me know if they are still available???
  18. I know exactly what you are saying. I have even played with a so called precision hornline. This may not make a whole lot of sense, but I would rather be great than perfect any day....
  19. I have been looking at the kelly version of the Helleburg to play on my contra. I was wondering if any of you guys have played this mouthpiece and what you think of it???
  20. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but the best way to learn to arrange is to go to school and learn theory!!!!! Too many people try to do stuff half ### without knowing the fundimentals!!!!!!!! :ramd:
