  1. How about a partnership with powerade/gatorade? Maybe Oakley's?
  2. When I was in college, I would "spread the word". And try to recruit people for the corps I was marching with.
  3. My last three years I kept getting swollen ankles. Why? No idea. And of course, shin splints. Now, I just have bad knees, heh.
  4. I never got to march there either. PC marched there the year before I marched. Im jealous now. *sniff*
  5. Oooh, this sounds great so far! Can't wait to see these shows!
  6. Wow. Completely out of left field. Best of luck to Mr. Jeff Fiedler.
  7. I listen to mostly everything except tej-mex or country. It just depends on the mood I am in to pick my music of the day. Some days it can be Michael Buble, another day TOOL.
  8. I enjoyed 1996. If it wasn't for a VHS from that year, I wouldn't have ever learned about drum corps.
  9. I just checked it out right now and I have to agree. Kudos to you.
  10. Yikes! Im sorry to hear that. But I am glad to you will be able to experience first hand how a corps is being run. I have no doubt that you will have a great time and the memories will last a life time. Just out of curiousity, which corps are you volunteering for?
  11. Or when they wore black, white and gold with white shoes in 96? Blech, I thought that looked tacky as well.
  12. Have you considered joining a Japanese corps that may have someone speaking English (closest continent I can think of with drum corps)? Just a thought...
  13. I didn't march drum corps till I was 16 yrs old because I didn't even know DCI existed! If I would have known about it, I would have marched SCVC since I was 12yrs old (I doubt my parents would have let me be in BDC since they never were really involved in music till I came along, lol).
  14. I thought it was a good show as well but it was very dirty. Maybe if they had a little bit more time to clean, it would have been bangin'. Nevertheless, kudos to SCV for pulling off a very difficult show.
  15. Being brutally honest, I didn't like Spirit's unis. They too were very distracting.
  16. I have to agree. Plus, its really easy to maneuver with.
  17. 1996, 2001, and 2004. 1996-Got me into it 2001- Was a great year for drum corps 2004- It was by far my favorite marching year.
  18. For me, rehearsals nearing the end of the season were always the most difficult. Not so much by the way the rehearsals were being run but its when I realized that my summer was almost over and I would never march with the same group of people ever again. Its mind boggling.
  19. In all the corps I marched with, they had this tradition of playing for the age outs after the last show. It always brought everyone to tears. *sniff*
  20. I was so ready to be done. I aged out and didn't play music for a year. I taught for a bit but it wasn't enough. I missed making music. Now Im back playing trumpet for the SDSU pep band. Will I march senior corps? Still don't know. Still up in the air. I miss performing but I don't miss rehearsing. Pep band has been suiting me well for now.
  21. I always wore them and never had anyone say anything. Sure, the tans were horrible but I would rather wear them than have the sun hurt my eyes during rehearsal.
  22. AND take flip flops with you during tour. I recommend a pair of Reefs or Rainbows. Really makes your feet feel pampered after a long day of hard but worthwhile work.
