  1. I was one of those "not getting the messages" guys but after looking at the Empire web site I found out about the two parades last weekend. Managed to 'goof off' on Monday and got down from Canada to do the Sun/Mon gigs. I have to say, I really forgot how much fun it was to do a parade with the Statesmen. What a great couple of days! Allen, David, Jimmy.....thanks for this opportunity. Now I'm looking forward to July 4th weekend to spend some time with all that talent coming back together for an on field performance. Can't wait. Gord Moffatt 2000-2003, 2006 Empire Statesmen. and too many before that to mention since 1961
  2. A lot these days........ The Ten Tenors......fabulous arrangements of "Dances with Wolves" and "Out of Africa" just to name two cuts from the CD Frequently 1979 DCA top four (Bucs, Cabs, Sky, & Sunrisers) Four great hornlines. Phantom Regiment 'thru the years compilation.
  3. First time I tried an "edit" but I don't think it worked. Regarding shipment to Canada, I will of course send USD money order.
  4. Will you ship to Canada? I know our dollar is pretty much equal these days, but presume it will cost a little more to ship? Gord Moffatt P.S. I've got old LP's from early 60's with Bucs so this would be a great addition to my collection.
  5. I've done it too, and frankly forgot all about it this year! I'd love to be there but will be on business trip and can't make it at this late date. Oh well, maybe next year........ditto Gary's comments.......if you can get there, you will have a great time and meet all kinds of folks.
  6. Hey, we may not be able to 'cut it' as lead sops! I have a commitment Fri night, so I haven't decided whether to go after that or early Sat morn. Don't know if Sunday is doable. I'm traveling Sunday night and its common to wait 2-3hrs at border these days, because the border guards are doing their tax collector job instead of looking more at security/immigration issues. (After all who cares about guns/drugs when you can ding tax money from cross border shoppers?) Anyway, hope to see you at some point.
  7. What? There are keys? OMG!! No one told me, or maybe I forgot! I have to concur. Use to read a sheet of music once/twice and have it memorized. Now it takes a lot of repetition to get it 'mostly memorized'.
  8. OUCH! What's not to like about a team that hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1967? (I think I saw Geff in the stands that night). The sad thing is they sell out each and every night, so the owners (Ontario Teachers Pension Fund) don't care if they win or not. They're rolling in $$$, and it would cost them more in salaries for good players than they'd get in playoff revenue so there is no incentive. Sorry, I guess this could get OT pretty quick. Hey Geff, pretty soon you'll be as old as me!
  9. Me neither! Love the enthusiasm, but we can all count.....at least up to six pack!
  10. Now you've got me into it too!! Pretty soon you'll be too old to march, oh wait, you already said you were.... All in fun my friend, have a happy! See you in a couple of weeks? Gord Moffatt
  11. Great thread! Would have to agree with others that Cabs have been the most consistent over the whole period. I don't go back to WWII (born just after), but I've been involved since late '50's and can't remember a year they were not strong and entertaining regardless of finish at VFW, American Legion, Dream, DCA et. If interpreted as a single year.............Bucs '79' get my vote. They where absolutely awesome (and they had to be, because Sunrisers were also 'smokin' that year, and Cabs/Sky also very strong). Prince/Reilly in early years and Brigs/Empire in more recent years, have also had very good individual years but the talent level in Bucs '79' comes through even on the old LP recordings. 12. Hey Kiltie Brother! I guess my disappointment clouded my vision, but I really thought you could have had a much better 'performance'. Throw all the show design stuff and judging inequities that have been posted elsewhere out the window. Maybe the show felt OK to you on the field but from where I was sitting believe me when I say I was nearly crying with disappointment because I wanted so badly for the Kilties to be on the field Sunday night. As someone else posted, it wasn't just one or two little tears. It seemed 1/2 the corps was out of sync for way too long to be overlooked. I hope you are right in your assessment of the outlook for 2008. Nothing would make me happier than to see Racine come storm'n back next year. I hope neither you or any of my Kiltie friends are upset at my post, but I'm just a candid guy.....and a sub par performance was what I saw. Its my opinion and seems to be backed up by the score. I'm proud to have been a Kiltie and even my limited time there makes me feel like part of a special family. Oh and congrats to JC and the rest of the ensemble group for your 4th place finish at I&E. Gord Moffatt - Toronto Kiltie 1999 (and likely would still be there if they moved Lake Michigan and Lake Huron out of the way)
  13. The drunk front will eminate from one of the many isoBARS in the area! There were also predictions of a NIGHTstorm, but apparently it has broken up!
  14. Me too, not consecutive. But like the rest of you darn proud of the longevity. 1961 First year of junior competitive corps thru to.. 1971 Last year of senior competitive corps 1995 First year of (second term) Senior non-competitive thru to.... 1999 First year of (second term) Senior competitive thru to..... 2003 Last year of (second term) Senior competitive Illness 2006 Most recent year of (OK third term) Senior competitive 2008 Maybe still 'aged out' but you never know. Will shortly (a few months) have to change my DCP name to 'sixtysomething'.
