  1. for special events sure they have worked together. but drum corps isn't a special event. it was, and becomes less of, a unique artform/competitive genre all of it's own.
  2. no. they're the ones that show up time and time again, have dvds, vhs, albums, cassettes, maybe 8 tracks and cds. they're the folks who stuck around in the 90s when attendance was plummeting. they're the folks who went to Orlando 3 years in a row, headaches and all. they're the ones that jumped on the friends of DCI bandwagon in the 80's.
  3. actually, trying to appeal to all is usually the biggest mistake in business
  4. good is good. however when I go to see the symphony, I don't expect a rock band...i go to see a symphony. When I go to a hockey game, I go to see hockey, not Nascar. when i go see a drum corps, I want a drum corps., if i want a true blue marching band with woodwinds, I know I'll have a ton of shows locally and nationwide to choose from beginning in September. personally, electric or accoustic, I think Dylan sucks
  5. critique can be a useful way to have dialogue after the judge has seen the show, and not just for bickering over tenths.
  6. so uh...why bother having rules if you just keep making exceptions>
  7. thank you, you just proved my point and showed yet another flaw in the argument provided in 1999 to go Bb and that it would help new corps start up by saving on costs
  8. don't forget the box that collapses as they build to the release of the hit in the music
  9. actually, I think the shows look too similar because of the comeptition, and not the "art" as you say. if they truly focused on art, you'd see more variety
  10. no they won't. you'll see more and more articles and posts saying it's hurting the kids. and, i agree...remember, the kids don't design the ####, they just perform it. but, given DCI 's already suffering from PR hell with Indy, adding this could really be a nightmare
  11. i think this past year was tame compared to where electronics will go
  12. ok, now I see it...the pattented Chris Mignemi head tilt
  13. no the snow blower did ok. only 22 inches here. Fran however....
  14. however Mike, you see even more of all ages say if woodwinds are added ( to the show that counts, but some to preshows) they're done too. why keep adding things that only seem to push more and more people away? DCI has done enough damage with Indy and the dome. Eventually, someone's gotta have some common sense and say "um, we're pushing people away" not that I expect that to happen anytime soon, but then again, I may already be gone for good when they decide...and many others may be with me.
  15. so Mike, since we're giving them some of our mystique, why isn't the game in a dome with a horrendous echo?
  16. uh, living not that far from Baltimore, I can guarantee more people in the Baltimore area will be rooting AGAINST the Colts in every way shape and form possible.
  17. well, you see more and more people on here saying why they aren't going to more than just the echo dome. I agree the economy had to play a part. But, we all know if the numbers were better, DCI would trot them out in a second. as for before the mid 90's..I'm guessing they had to keep count for tax purposes, but never bothered to keep good records of it internally
  18. true...staff must take responsibility. or...they'll just keep changing the rules to make up for their lack of responsibility. Not like we haven't seen that pattern in the last 7 years
