  1. Just to clarify: Not almost 2 points. 1.15 points. Big difference.
  2. Nah, it's done. Just need another SCV-to-BD read to lock it in.
  3. Pretty much. I'd want to see the San Antonio head-to-heads of everyone, but yeah, this one is 90 percent called.
  4. I mean, intonation being off is a pretty universal concept in western music. If you're out of tune you're out of tune.
  5. That's...not quite the same thing. That's the visual design as a whole, which does not equal "hard drill" specifically.
  6. At this point I'd say Bloo has the better design and Devils are edging them in performance.
  7. Running perfect 720p and hasn't had a hiccup yet for me.
  8. I mean, other people are literally having flawless views. Sooo it may not be you specifically, but it could certainly be your ISP.
  9. Back in 2004 like twenty percent of our hornline were woodwind players that just switched over to march. We had Trumpets, Mellos and Baritones that were actually clarinet and flute players. It's very, very possible.
  10. It's all about sampling. Since the Brass judge is on the field, he's taking individual samples. Might just be a wrong-place/wrong-time situation tonight. It happens. Analysis is the box ensemble guy, and he agrees with you. Generally speaking, though, it's nice to see Boston making the push to be in the top-6 shuffle. We could use some new blood up there (I know they've been Top 5 before, but I mean more recent history), and I'm a big fan of the design this year.
  11. Phantom's brass are still having intonation and endurance issues like crazy. At this point I'm becoming concerned the book is too ambitious for the group to get it there in time.
  12. You completely misread the entire intent of my post, but I hope that angry spat made you feel better I guess.
  13. A margin of .15 is functionally a dead heat. It isn't so much about overtaking as it is about getting that slightly more favorable read from one caption judge that night.
  14. The 10 point Colts-to-Boston gap is giving us a bit of a fudged picture likely. No corps in the "mid-range" in terms of 9-14ish were at the show, so you lose some fine control over the point spreads. But, as always, raw scores are unimportant. Point spreads are what matter. The thing to take away from this show is where these corps are placing relative to each other in terms of spread.
  15. Not surprising considering the gap from Colts to Boston. Boston at a 77 necessitates more upward movement for the next 3. The surprising outcome would have been if Crown *hadn't* hit at least an 81 knowing Boston was at a 77.
  16. My point is that this is not a situation they've been in before if the entire show is literally going to change. If it isn't, and this is going to be closer to a standard "tweak and change some things" thing, then sure, all of this is moot.
  17. Certainly, but I mean in the context of what I keep hearing this year: "BD's show is going to continue to "morph" the rest of the year!" People make it sound as though its going to be more than the usual changing and tweaking that happens to programs (including BD's) and is going to be a more full-blown sweeping change from top to bottom over the year. My point is only that if that's the case, it's a pretty high risk/reward proposition, since a total overhaul needs practice time, and they don't have the point cushions they've had before. I referenced 2014 because that's the most recent example of BD having an insurmountable lead so laughably huge, you could drive a truck through it, and thus they had a lot of house money to play with and could have conceivably changed anything they wanted without too much worry about loss of performance points. A year like this, where suddenly SCV is back within a point, and Bluecoats are a legit threat now, it's a riskier play.
  18. This isn't 2014, though. Gone are the days where BD is so far ahead of everyone else that there's no realistic chance of anyone catching them. There's only so much new stuff you can shove down member's throats and have them clean it enough. That's the balance that has to be struck every single year, of course, by everyone making show changes mid-season. How much to change, how soon, and how difficult to make those changes.
  19. It's the weakest part of the design at present, yes. I have to imagine it's going to get a lot of TLC. The stair props need work, integration-wise, and it just needs more visual coherence. Musically I think they're much closer. So I expect we'll see the bulk of the changes visually.
