  1. Totally off topic, but Jayboe in your signature you have go Tribe. Am I safe to assume that by Tribe you mean WM, because if so, it'll make this incoming freshman 100 time happier.
  2. Retreats will be at Allentown and Finals as well.
  3. Hi, I was curious if anyone actually has a Benge Mello 6. I know they are not made anymore but my instructor recommended I buy one because it would do me well I suppose. I know Umi made the copy which I have, but he says he doesn't like it on me. So if anyone has some info or actually has one, I willing to make a deal. Thanks so much.
  4. All I remember is that my friend Mike bragged because he scored more touchdowns than Emmit Smith. Good old Mike. We had to run or do pushups for mistakes, its the norm. I had the fastest 1/4 mile of the corps.
  5. Alex is marching Troopers, Alex is marching Troopers, Alex is Marching Troopers, You should march Long Blue too.
  6. The M6s that most corps will play on are the wider rimmed mouthpieces. They are more similar to the trumpet. It'll mess up horn players chops some times, but I've never honestly see it kill them either way.

I think we should all clear this up, are you talking about best High Brass section as in mellos and Trumpets or are you talking about who will win high brass at finals. High Brass section: 1. Cadets (screamers like Rick are amazing) 2. Blue Devils 3. Crossmen (just a personal favorite) Who will Win High Brass: 1.Vanguard 2. Blue Devils 3. Phantom Regiment
  8. How long does it take for someone to get banned on forums?
  9. Yeah, thanks for the j/k. While Yamaha has a considerable amount of influence in DCI, they by no means own or control them. Some people view anything not in the key of G to be satanic, I personally want to see a drum corp in D Flat.
  10. It sounds nicer and it's more in tune. That is probably the easiest answer to give him. If you want to get more in depth, they are produced better, they have a higher resale value, and I'm sure some people don't like corps ear (or whatever it's called). I prefer Bb/F horns over the bugles, but both have pros and cons. Gs provide the darker tone and are generally louder. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though, because I'm not a music major or anything, I just love to march.
  11. Blue Devils Horns. No question in my book.
  12. One of the guys that march BD in the mid 80s on the forums has a picture of him playing the Alto Horn. I don't remember which name he has on here, something like BDAlto85. To the guy whose name I am slaughtering, please accept my sincerest apologies.
  13. I would say Horn, but I'm pretty good at horn and I've conquered all the partials and everything. I don't mean to brag, so don't view it like that. For me (personally) I would say trumpet, I sound like **** on it, have no upper range and its just an odd embouchure for me. For most, I would have to say Horn.
  14. I would choose horn for myself, others probably will be different. I for some reason or the other, have trouble with the mello mouthpiece and the mello itself, but Mellophones are the better instrument on the drum corps field.
  15. Yamaha's student models are all poorly built, but you get your hands on a Professional or a custom yamaha horn and those might be some of the best ones out there. Try the 668 out, I love it, thinking of switching my 8D in for one.
  16. my goatee has never affected my playing, but the red hair is pretty ugly.
  17. The King line that Phantom plays are pretty nice. I like Kanstul personally.
  18. Conn 8D Yamaha 4 valve tuba Olds Mellophone that i stole from my old school(they play on marching horns now)
  19. What they lacked in morals, they made up for it with their sound. Just Kidding, I love listening to recordings of that year.
