  1. Moved to Percussion forum - for consistency's sake. :) (Better to keep like-subjects in the same area...) Thanks! Mike
  2. Twelve? Thirteen? Something like that. We had to create a separate forum to discuss all of them... Mike
  3. Oh, and DCI did tell DCP that these are the only rules proposals out there this year... Mike
  4. The two threads on this topic have been merged. Mike
  5. Oh, and I add that after reading the proposals (link on the dci.org page), the Judges' Task Force is not in favor of moving the one judge off of the field, but *is* in support of adding the ensemble judge...
  6. http://www.dci.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=e...b7-b2cd231ba97b Here's the gist: #1 - Adding a Percussion Ensemble judge and giving equal weight to battery and pit, to make sure that the pit gets feedback from every judged performance. #2 - Moving the Percussion Performance judge into the stands, so he can watch the pit as well, not just the battery... Mike
  7. Thanks for the review - I can now "hear" a restatement of Adios Nonino in my head a la Canon... :) And if I lived closer, I'd try Beef-a-Roo, too! Mike
  8. Because the crowd felt they should have been higher than they were - they were booing the placement; not the corps. I can see arguments for and against where they ended up. From a fan who's not breaking it down caption-by-caption, they were friggin' on fire musically. Visually, they weren't as crisp as many of the corps above them, though. I still love to listen to that show... Mike
  9. From what I've seen, that's a pretty standard setup for just about every corps. Mike
  10. Wow - that was friggin' cool. Mike
  11. I read somewhere that their double beat exercise this year was based on a techno song. Does anyone know what it was? (And FWIW - I see this exercise becoming the most-copied drum piece in the next few years. At the Houston Bowl, 2 different HS drumlines were already using it...) Mike
  12. Just a reminder - Please make sure that any clips or sites linked to here have their clips with permission of the authors. We can't allow links to sites that violate copyrights... :( Mike
  13. Aha - found the problem. It'll be fixed in a few minutes... Mike
  14. Not just you - it's been down... Mike
  15. Unless you know him and I'm missing the joke - that was completely uncalled for. Mike
  16. Snareline (note that it wraps around the corner of the form!) Snare Pic 1 Snareline 2 (the rest of them!) Snare Pic 2 Wow - lot of drums... Mike
  17. As a good place to start, might I recommend Columbus Percussion? http://www.columbuspercussion.com/ They have a "school and educational" catalog with the big (Yamaha, Pearl, Premier, Dynasty) drum corps drum makers in there, and they've got pretty representative pricing. Hope that helps! Mike
  18. In my top 3 of all-time favorite shows, by far. That drumline in Caravan - wow. And Now or Never is right up there in my book with the greatest closers ever! Mike
  19. That year, they did. Off the top of my head (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong): 1974 - 1993 - Live PBS broadcast. (Except for '80 or '81, which was a taped broadcast of the Whitewater show?) 1994 - 1998 - Delayed "highlights" package. 1999 - 2001 - Live PBS broadcast. 2002 - 2003 - Delayed sort-of-highlights package. Mike
  20. DCI's Legacy Collection DVD's Or Even Better - "A Taste of Madison" DVD with both shows on it. Hope this helps! Mike
  21. Hard for me to say - I knew before I saw it how it turned out, so it didn't bother me that much. Mike
  22. Moved to DCP Marketplace forum... Mike
  23. Remo now makes the Tendura line - I'm sure they're pretty similar. (Though I've not played them - we've still got our Premiers...) Mike
