  1. a BD top 10 without 86 and 76? 76 might be THE most important show for BD
  2. Actually, i went to an audition where I was asked to jazz run...first thing they had me do. But that was a one night shotgun audition. No instruction. Just go jazz run into a straight halt and then go play your solos. That was it. So yes, some groups ask for you to audition with a jazz run (or at least one).
  3. Crown may be "most improved" but Cavies are the corps of the decade hands down. I remember marching in '02 and thinking that the Cavies were setting a whole new standard for brass playing and ensemble movement. btw, listen to the difference in brass sound from cavies 01 and 02.
  4. If time is an issue...just start the whole show earlier
  5. he's not saying that because he thinks BAC is better
  6. Let's take predictions on how many people will be in here tonight waiting for scores. I say we reach 1500
  7. 95- 11th 96- 10th 97- 12th 98- 11th 99- 11th 00- 11th 01- 10th 02- 16th 03- 10th 04- 7th 05- 7th 06- 8th 07- 6th 08- 4th 09- (2nd after semi's) So Crown was a consistent lower finalist over 7 years. Then came 2002. In 2003 they restructured their faculty completely as well as some administrative modifications to see the rise to the top of the pack. I think it's safe to say that without 2002 Crown would not be anywhere near where they are today. What are your thoughts on how 2002 has affected the corps? Also, is it time to stop shuddering at the thought of 2002 Crown and instead embrace it as a cause of the corps current rise?
  8. if the overall score between the top two corps were equal then they used a very complicated tie-breaker system that i don't remember the details of...had something to do with caption placements. Even this system didn't completely eliminate the possibility of a tie.
  9. strange for them to edit the wording in the article after it was posted though, yes? anyone else catch that?
  10. the reverted back to allowing ties for first just this year previously...since 2001 ties were virtually impossible for 1st place only. It was still semi-normal to have a tie for any other position
  11. or what is the largest spread made up from quarters/semi's to win finals?
  12. ok so this is from "Top five in medal contention after World Class Quarterfinals" on DCI's page "Carolina Crown trumpet player Tanner Smith said he really enjoyed performing in the stadium, which will be the home of the DCI World Championships for nearly the next decade." However, that was not the wording it had when the article first came out. Instead of saying....for nearly the next decade....it said .....through 2012. Any idea why it would say 2012 when the 10 year contract goes though what...2017? Also, why did they go back and change their wording later in the day??
  13. So you know how there's always the GIGANTIC pause when announcing scores for 2nd (And in 2nd place........................................................................... ................................................................................. .....................................the blah blah blah) Is that going to be shifted to the third place announcement at finals? I mean we all pretty much know who's going to win...the fight at the top is for 2nd this year (unfortunately)
  14. they were only out of finals for one year since 94 2001-10th 2002-16th 2003-10th 2004-7th, etc
  15. God forbid I have to go to RAMD to read about actual drum corps I'm just saying that INT is OT in this forum...it should be in a separate place
  16. Ok, so I got tricked into entering this thread (no mention of INT in title). The INT stuff is dumb and since it's not actually a drum corps or was ever one...can we move all INT topics out of the drum corps forum and into some sort of OT forum?
  17. Whether you like it or not Bottom 6 is regularly used to describe those corps who place in the bottom six of finals. Please feel free to leave the discussion if you have nothing to add to the actual topic.
  18. For those unfamiliar with the terms top/bottom 6- Top 6= placements 1-6 Bottom 6 = placements 7-12
  19. So I think now we're prepared to accept that last year's 1st place corps will finish this year somewhere in the bottom 6. Where most people are pointing to show design issues, I want to remind everyone that they switched from King Brass to Jupiter this season. With that said, how do we feel about this decision now? (reference the thread that discusses a lack of baritone presence) Does this switch to Jupiter have anything to do with Phantom's problems? NOTICE- This is not a thread is not here for people to bash Phantom, but only to discuss the relationship between where they stand and the Jupiter instruments they play.
  20. I'm pretty sure Crown would just assume not having you as a fan if you're making statements like these.
  21. Good draw for the HNC. Could be trouble for Crown.
