  1. December 9th is Open House for the Renegades. Good luck in the parade - sounds like a lot of fun!
  2. Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not coming for you...
  3. And add to this that you have to be 18 to march in the Blue Devils...
  4. I second that sentiment! Good luck in 2007 to our brothers and sisters in Sactown! May next season be even more competetive than last!
  5. And we can't forget that kick-a## party us three West Coast corps had together at Gilman's after the Sunnyvale show this past July! Much fun was had by all that night. While at that party, I couldn't stop thinking that we were the embodiment of why we do this crazy activity in the first place... Seriously though...way too much whining and bellyaching about the DCI meeting. I hope everyone is enjoying the "off season" (if there really is one!) and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone kicking butt on the field in 2007!
  6. This year a lot of Renegades descended upon Whole Foods in San Francisco during lunch and dinner. It's the first exit coming off the Bay Bridge - easy access to Treasure Island, plus the food is excellent! When I marched junior corps, it was all about the breakfast burritos and tuna casserole for quick energy! (And I HATE tuna!)
  7. These aren't the rules you're looking for...
  8. We had a boundary violation and I can live with the penalties. However, I think the conversation should be about the fair and equitable assessment of penalties. Nobody should be "getting away" with anything if DCA is really serious about these and other violations. For example, how many corps crossed the plane of their honor guards this past weekend and didn't get penalized? I can think of at least one... Just my $.02 And I wonder how large the penalty would have been if the Renegades had trooped the stands?
  9. One thing's for certain...Renegades will be on fire... And I'm sure all of you will be, too! Looking forward to seeing everyone in two weeks! ^0^
  10. Actually, Stu, the SCV alumni corps has always been open to anybody who marched in any SCV unit (B Corps, Cadet Corps, Winterguard, A-Corps). If we had limited it to only those who marched finals, we would not have had much of a drumline!
  11. Yeah, on the 1987 DCI video you can see me throw my slide out just before the big push in Russian Xmas. Not the best note on that horn!
  12. I can't believe we're discussing this...
  13. As an educator I must agree with Lee that the more you play, the better you get! I don't understand the closed-mindedness with which many DCA corps treat I&E, either. When I marched Santa Clara we took the morning off to go watch I&E. And yes, we had MANY different ensembles and soloists competing...and, yes, we were in contention every year I marched. And, yes, it helped to keep the quality of musicianship very high in that corps. And just like I&E at DCA, we had a chance to mingle and share the camraderie with our friends in the other corps. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at I&E the last 4 years I've been at DCA, both competing and not. Besides, I would never have seen Lee's infamous I&E solo in 1987 if Gail had decided that an extra 3 hours of rehearsal at the end of the season would have benefitted us in any way. Just my $.02
  14. Interesting...many of the Renegades DM's over the years have come from the contra section! Baritones, too. So maybe marching low brass is the key to getting on the podium! B)
  15. I will be there with Kelli. Hopefully it won't be so hellishly hot this year. Last year it was still 110 degrees when we went on!
  16. The sound quality was terrible. I was shocked at how bad the audio was. I've listened to 88 Madison more times than I can count and the broadcast did not live up to my expectations. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. Steve Rondinero's voice was far louder than any corps on the screen. <**>
  17. We don't have enough contras or baritones of our own to be bartering with! We can trade dugada! b**bs ^0^
  18. I do believe that Northwest Venture hails from Seattle...
