  1. Cavaliers are too busy during Yuletide to worry about such mundane things as show announcements.
  2. Devil's advocate here, but when I started in '75 I wouldn't hesitate to say that 3/4 of the corps in existence in Wisconsin at the time probably were worth going to get a show dog while they were on the field. Good thing show tickets were only a couple bucks. Flame away if you like, but if Ken Kobold got a request for a tape of the 1975 Park Falls Brass Regiment, I'd be pretty confident in stating that it probably came from a member.
  3. ####!! I bet I could get a kick-@55 bongo/timbale section together for you.........with an Americano alumnus, even.
  4. HaHaHaHa!!!! On the Cavaliers' alumni message board, the guys are complaining how their Wives and S.O.s come to take pictures and 90% of the pictures are of Chachi!! :big hug: "It's ALWAYS about ChaChi!!! Can't it EVER be about Craig Rasin???"
  5. You know wht's coming up after this, right?
  6. Never let it be said that I had anything against the A-squad:
  7. Four Lakes Council Boy Scouts = Madison Scouts Troop #111 Boy Scouts = The Cavaliers Indianhead Council Boy Scouts = St. Paul Scouts
  8. The local corps contest used to be called the "Night of Splendor." How about "Afternoon of Splendor?"
  9. 1973 for me.........WI corps take 3,4,5 at DCI. The Black Knights and Commodores in Finals. The Thing.
  10. That would explain how the morning after the show, I walked to the opposite side of the cooktruck to find a spot to sit down to eat my Froot Loops only to spy an Asian-American male passed out against the curb (with his member hanging out of his pants.) One of Boston's Finest arrived, assessed the situation, and called for an ambulance from the hospital that was about a block away. By the time the ambulance arrived, about 3/4 of the corps was there, vocally encouraging that guy to get up and run for it. And naturally, hilarity ensued when the EMTs attempted to load that guy onto the longboard, only to receive a urine shower from the now awake and highly irritated man. Therein is the genesis of the 1981 drum bus preliminary-winning rookie talent show program.
  11. That's after Garfield played "Pieces of Dreams" and Madison copycatted it.
  12. Playing "Iowa." Being 13 years old with a girlfriend in the Port Washington Windjammers and a girlfriend in the West Bend Patriots and NO WINGMAN!!! Somebody wearing a beer can hat to practice. Sympathetic back pain for North Tenors in '76 BD. Sympathetic back pain for Septom drummers in '77 Spirit. The first time ever hearing the fugue portion of "Variations on a Theme by Purcell." Old-school nicknames for other corps. Trying to engage Ed Trautner in conversation at shows in the hopes of seeing my name in the "Trivial" column. Explaining to my non-drum corps friends why I listened to Chase music instead of Cheech and Chong. Leigh Howard Stevens grip vs. Gary Burton grip. Firing a Pringles can urine bomb out the bus window. Boob, I mean Tube Tops. Pre-season predictions as to which corps' show would serve as the "time to go get a hot dog from the concession stand" based upon the repertoire announcement. The bongo/timbale player from Freelancers that single-stroked 32nd notes. Laundry day. Guys with wafros having to buy a hairnet from the quartermaster. Corps housing at Bosco Prep in Boston (just blocks from the Combat Zone.) Wasn't Garfield's opener one time "Advance of the Strawberry Sponges to the Left Bank Express?" Guardsmen KFC commercial. "They're ALWAYS ready!!!!" After four years, going to an out-of-state corps and FINALLY!!! Not having to do the Appleton Flag Day parade. Being 20 years old with a girlfriend in the Marquis and a girlfriend in the Pioneer and NO WINGMAN!!! Hearing CAC 888 play "Softly, As I Leave You" and instantly being 20 years old again.
