1. Ed Mason is correct when he says to try the local high school marching band competitions. Placing flyers under windshield wipers at these events works surprisingly well. Good luck. Rice

4. Try contacting the guy who posts here on DCP by searching for his username of "Goldsmith1210". (The Search function is located in the upper right corner of this page) When it displays past postings of his, click on his username in the upper left hand corner of the post. That will bring up his profile. From there you can click on "Send a personal message" under Communicate. Good luck, Rice
5. I'm not sure but I think the Grenadier's from Burnaby, British Columbia still exist as a Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. They perform in parades in and around the Pacific Northwest and Alberta. I'll try to see what I can find out and get back to you by email. Try contacting the Pacific Alliance in Seattle, Washington. Here is their URL: http://www.brassfromthepast.org/ They might be able to help out in one way or another. Or, consider contacting the Seattle Cascades. Here is their URL: http://www.seattlecascades.org/ Tom Peashey is now their Ops. Director and could be a valuable asset to you in helping you to get the organization off the ground. The Northwest Venture in Seattle was a Senior Corps at one point up until this year. I don't know what is happening with them currently. Perhaps some of their management and instructional staff could be of some assistance to you. Unfortunately, their webpage has been taken down for now. Again, I'll see what I can find out and send you an email. By the way, a group in Portland, Oregon is trying to get a Senior Corps started as well. A guy who posts here on DCP is involved. He goes by the name Goldsmith1210. If you perform a search (in the upper right hand corner of this page) using his name you'll be able to send him a personal message and find out from him how to go about contacting the organization. Hopefully, he won't mind. Good luck, Rice
6. Wouldn't San Antonio's indoor Alamo Stadium cure this problem? Air conditioning too. Just a thought. Rice
7. O.K. So now, if the concession problem is corrected, any other ticket agency besides TicketMaster handles the tickets, the downtown issue is worked on, tricky as it might be and the congestion in the concourse is handled, (anything else?) would you agree that W-S could be a decent choice for the 2006 Finals? Can you see where this is headed, Jeff? I mean, when is it ever going to be good enough? Rice

9. I'm saying anyone who works to hinder the overall growth of a group isn't helping the greater group as a whole. If the shoe fits......... Rice
10. Disrespectful could be interpeted as: Any individual or group of individuals who won't work with others to try and grow or develop a common interest and actually hinder that growth in order to satisfy their own selfish interests. Rice
11. Thanks Chris! I didn't see MusicCityLegend's question until today. Hope all is going well for you guys! Thanks again. Rice
12. And these were shows held in some of the larger cities back east like Boston, New York or Philadelphia? Sorry, but that's a little hard to believe, Liz. Rice
13. Absolutely! I hope you'll consider writing more reviews in the future. Maybe Scranton? Thanks again! Rice
14.
About to come...on the phone with Jeff. [post="1099120"][/post]
Oh, you're going to make Ryan (Mr. Mellow Cali-phony-an) mad! You're not playing by "their" rules! Shame on you. You'll never be accepted back into the "Gold Diggers State" now!

16. The Prairie Sound Drum and Bugle Corps of Kansas City, Kansas was formed by Jeff Dancinger in June of 2004. He is the Corps Director and also a performing member of Prairie Sound as a baritone player. Jeff got his junior corps experience as a member of the Sky Ryder's from Hutchinson, Kansas. Interest and membership grew quite rapidly during the summer of 2004 and the corps held it's first organizational meeting to appoint Horn, Drum and Color Guard Instructors as well as Management Personnel in the fall of 2004. Prairie Sound already owns it's own line of horns and drums which is extraordinary for a start-up organization. Due to this fact a short rehearsal was held after the first official meeting where performing members were treated to the honor of standing in the first-ever "Horn Arc" for the Prairie Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. Quite a feat considering the entire organization was only four months old at the time! Unfortunately, during this period of rapid growth and developement for the organization, in October of 2004 Jeff Dancinger's National Guard unit was called up to active duty and sent to Iraq. This has left the corps in somewhat of a temporary holding pattern over the last ten months. However, his unit is due to return back home to "The States" sometime in August or September of 2005! Please frequently visit the Prairie Sound Yahoogroup for further updates on Jeff's safe return home to his family and join us in praying that this will happen. The organization will then resume operation and look forward to a great future in 2006 and beyond. Please browse the Prairie Sound Yahoogroup page for further information and postings regarding the organization by going to www.yahoo.com, click on Groups, enter Prairie Sound in the Search field, click Search, then scroll down the list until you see the Prairie Sound listing, click on it, then click on "Join This Group" and register as a member to keep up on the corps progress. Thank you, Richard W. Rice rwrice@hotmail.com
17. I thought I was the only one who was writing all over my program..... I guess not! Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to your review. Rice
18. Kristam, Just wondering what your thoughts were on the Wichita show? Especially the cadets and the "outhouse" in the middle of the field? (From the guy who was sitting next to you in Wichita, I think....) Good luck with the Goddard show! (If Kristam is who I think she is) Rice
19. This isn't so much a "DCA story" but more of a "senior corps historical story" instead. Sorry, no drinking or fighting were involved. The American Legion Championships were held in Portland, Oregon in 1970. The Yankee Rebels had made the trip all the way across the country for the show and were the first senior corps I had ever seen. This was back in the days where half of their corps members wore the uniforms of the Union Army and the other half wore the uniforms of the Confederate Army from the civil war era. After the "concert" portion of their show, when they had resumed marching, the corps members devided themselves into the two different "Armies" (Union and Confederate) on oposing sides of the fifty yard line. The two armies then turned facing each other and simotaneously began marching towards each other with the Union side playing "Battle Hymm of the Republic" while the Confederate side played "Dixie" at the same time! It was truly unbelievable. For a fourteen year old kid who had never seen a world class championship quality corps before, I was completely blown away by this. I could hear each song so distinctly as I recall. How did they do that? I was amazed. I can't even begin to tell you how crazy the crowd went. Most people in the Pacific Northwest (me included) in 1970 had never seen anything like it before. I still get chills thinking about it. Even now thirty-five years later as I type this! Rice
