  1. We had a Young Contra Player contact us looking for an All Age Corps to March with. Says he's pretty good but does not have the money for DCI. I thought he was a local player at first but when I asked what High School he played at it was in Indianapolis. I'd like to give the kid some options of where to go to march an all age Corps closest to him. Thanks, Jeff Dancinger, Prairie Sound!!!
  2. "Anchors Away" should be played by at least one corps in 2012. Possibly the "Marine Corps Hymn" as well.
  3. Crossmen, One of the choices I would direct my Trumpet playing Son to at the moment.
  4. I don't know about WGI where you are but out here in the Missouri/Kansas area they won't work with you unless your a member so you would have to have a seperate show.
  5. Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps has been in the Pepsi Refresh Project Voting for 2 weeks and we need your Help with Votes. While your normal everyday votes are great, Power votes are really helpful. Power Votes are found under yellow bottle caps marked Refresh Your World and have values from 5 votes to 100 votes. Power votes are also found on specially marked 12 packs of cans. Winning the $10,000 dollar grant would go a long way to helping Prairie Sound compete as a Mini Corps in 2012. For those in KC Metro Area who are interested in participating in Drum & Bugle Corps, our Next Rehearsal is Sunday September 18th from 2pm to 5pm at the National Guard Armory 1601 W. 56hwy Olathe, KS 66061. Thanks, Jeff, Prairie Sound!!!
  6. Speaking of Drum Majors I thought the Cavaliers Drum Major Conducting upsidedown was pretty original.
  7. Well VK had the Sex Cymbals I guess BD could have Pole Dancing.
  8. Yes, they changed the music but essentially was the same show. I think they could have put the '85 show back on the field and made it to top 12. As it was Sky Ryders hit a home run going from 15th in '85 to 9th in '86. That's just Crazy.
  9. OK, the trend in the past for Hornline in the early 80's was the Company Front step over, the Company Front to the Side line and Blast and the lean back and blow. The Battery moves were Snares in a Company front while playing off their neighbors drums, Marching up and down the 50, stick visuals.... Currently we see Brass Lines doing lots of dance moves, Jazz Runs, and puffing out the chest at the end of a strong piece in a power stance. Drums, usually Snares and Tenors do that squating and leaning move in an offset formation. Whats are the next trendy moves going to be? Will we see new stuff in 2012 or just more of the same? who will do totally original moves in 2012 that everyone will copy in 2013. Blue Devils seem to be the trend setter corps. Will they continue to set trends?
  10. What City are you possibly thinking of for the possible show?
  11. What City are you thinking of so I can figure distance from Kansas City

  13. Star United Field Corps and a C2 Field Corps Head to Head.
  14. We are forming our Mini Corps for 2012. We are asking for people who are willing to perform at the local DCI show in KC plus travel to Minnesota and Annapolis. For the Field Shows we are forming a 12 to 15 person Bugle Line, a 2 to 6 person Percussion Section and 4 to 12 person Color Guard. For the Annapolis Trip we will form take the Bugle Line and the Percussion Section for the Mini Corps Show and the Color Guard for I&E. Our Next Meeting is Sunday September 18th from 2pm to 5pm. Refer to the Schedule on our site for the Address. Thanks, Jeff, Prairie Sound!!!
  15. Were there only 7 entries this year? Last I heard at the Beginning of August they were looking at having 20 Mini Corps at the Competition.
  16. I'm going to have to do some research on what Motels/Hotels are in the area. I would think there would be several because of the Academy. I'm starting my savings account for the trip this month. Not missing this next year.
  17. If they didn't sell their show they would be 13th or below in placing.
  18. The pit is for Accompaniment. The percussion section usually gets a feature section in any show and that's their time to show off and shine. The rest of the time they should be for color and effects. IMHO
  19. 1984 Blue Devils "La Fiesta" show. don't know the name of the show but that tune rocked. 1985 Velvet Knights "Peter Gunn" 1986 Sky Ryders OZ 1987 Sky Ryders West Side Story 1988 Sky Ryders Sound of Music Took a Drum Corps Break until 2004. 2006 Cavaliers "Machine" 2007 No Favorite 2008 No Favorite 2009 Boston had a kickbutt show 2010 Madison Scouts Back to their roots. I also liked Pioneer's show of Christian Music. 2011 Cadets Heaven and Hell, I also liked Crowns show where the electronics made sense and they still let the Hornline play.
  20. If I were Pioneer, I'd give Kansas City a try for an audition camp. Too much talent to skip over. Say they are able to get a half dozen to commit to the next season, that's a half dozen more than they would have had. I do think the bulk of their recruiting should be local to their home office.
  21. That's the wy it should be. A seasoning of pit. That just sounds wrong.lol
  22. I like watching old Drum Corps but have trouble dealing with the poor quality of the recordings at times.
  23. I'd say he's more of an exception to the rule. When I was in High School Band one of our Drummers Marched Sky Ryders his Junior year and came back and could hardly stand what we were doing in marching band. Our band was pretty good at the time. I Marched between My Senior Year in high School and Freshman year in College and was just disgusted at how bad the Emproia State Marching Band program was run at the time 1985. Band Teachers in Olathe tend to use Drum Corps as a model but don't really want their students participating until they have left High School. In my Opinion from what I have observed. Yes, Kansas is full of talented students who could do well in DCI.
