  1. I know when I was deciding where to try out in '93, it was between Star and Cadets for me. Star had my favorite shows collectively, over the few years up to that, and I thought they were definitely on the cutting edge, but Cadets blew me away in '92 with 'To Tame the Perilous Skies', and based on that show, and the fact that it was easier for me to get to Jersey, I decided to go to Bergen County to try out, and marched there three years... Do you think that Crown's great shows over the past 3 years, and competitive success will draw from would 'would have been' Cadet's talent?
  2. Classic DCI - Definitely what we needed, and they do it sooooo Classy!
  3. Agreed - - Also love Blooos show this year. Wish i could be there.
  4. Suncoast Sound - Still listen to their '88 show... It was truly innovative - IMHO.
  5. The F5 button is doing nothing for me, someone explain!? is it bc I have a Mac?
  6. Good Comment ROFL - Just wondering how the Finals thread turned into a Finding Nemo discussion.
  7. I totally realize that the webcast is very different than sitting in LSO, but the sound last night was better than my expectations. Not amazing, and it is probably just that I had VERY low expectations and had prepared for the worst.
  8. I know I am biased, but I thought Cadets were great
  9. Favorable judging panel for Crown tonight based on the season thus far. Look for Starnes on GE music to give them a pretty big spread over Cadets as he has at every show he has judged this year.
  10. OMG you said YOWSA! oh the memories of 2005 YOWSA, YOWSA, YOWSA - this years show about the first half of the 20th century is going a little better for them it seems.
  11. Jackson - marched there that year. In addition to the oppressive heat, the Huge Storm Finals night really affected the quality of the shows. I will never forget warming up with Start next to us, and a huge deluge arriving. Each corps hornline ran under different groups of trees. It was a shame for the corps that had to perform during it - Madison, BD, and Cavies most of all. It affected all of the guards. BD fabulous guard had drops all over the place, and Cadets guard had some too 'probably' due to the wet equipment and side lines. Unfortunate that the finals versions off all the shows didn't really look so great on TV that night.
  12. AMEN! Whatever you think about the lack of difficulty they are AMAZING performers. I think judging over this decade has really rewarded cleanliness more than it did in the 80s and 90s. Obviously not back to the tick system level, but there seems to have been some change...
  13. 1. 2007 Triple Crown 2. 2004 Bohemia 3. 2008 Finis 4. 2005 Angelus 5. 2006 In.Trance.It 6. - 10. undecided 2009 - Grass Is Always Greener. Yet to be determined... Go Crown!
  14. Irving, Thanks for your very informative updates. I greatly appreciate the insight that you bring!
  15. For me: 1. SCV 2000 (LOVED that show!) and wanted it to be clean so badly, but it was such a beast of a show, and needed changes to the closer IMHO. 2. STAR 1990 - Should have scored higher I think. 3. Cadets 1992 as others have said. 4. I'll even throw in Phantom 1993 - they wouldn't have passed Cadets or Start I don't think, but it was a great show that was a little dirty. All three corps had changed endings at finals that year that very pretty dirty visually.
  16. Funny you mention this In 1993 Marc put a very similar rotating block move at the end of part three of our show before the ballad. We worked VERY hard to make sure it was cleaner than 1992. We heard that all summer.
  17. 1. BD (98.3) 2. HNC 3. Crown 4. Cavaliers 5. SCV 6. Bluecoats 7. Phantom 8. Boston 9. Blue Stars 10. Blue Knights 11. Glassmen 12. Troopers (84.5)
  18. Most of Crown's show, ironically not really Somewhere/Over the Rainbow, more Promise of Living.
