  1. There is one in Dallas. The morning it was converted, the 7-11 fuel truck was confused and called its boss to tell them that there was not a 7-11 there any longer. I guess someone forgot to tell him about the promotion.
  2. Much improved over Thursday. It seems that things are moving back upward after the set backs. I am glad to see that. Good luck in the rest of the season. As for me, I am already having withdrawls for not being able to see any more shows live this summer. But, unlike last year, I saw two shows and I do not have to take a bar exam this week. Who-hoo.
  3. I was more than floored by The Academy last night. They are simply amazing. Great job. I am glad I was able to see it live.
  4. I think the "short bus" comment was added in jest.
  5. "Marching arts" maybe, but other than 84 and 94 Cadets (94 being a tribute to a great show, that almost won again) and Kiwanis Kavaliers that same year (94), I cannot recall WSS being used in the drum corps idiom in the last 23 years. Please correct me if I am wrong. As far as being over performed by marching bands, I agree, but that is for the marching band planet forum.
  6. An officially sanctioned message by DCI. Congratulations DCP, this beats the props from the DCI field pass mention before the Kalamazoo show. Anyway, as far as SCV I have no field of reference yet, but IMHO Crown should have beat PR on Thursday in Dallas. Great year for DCI. There are no losers as far as the fans are involved. I just hope the semis are available on dvd this year.
  7. I saw them in Dallas on Thursday. it was a very clean show, but not very interesting, IMHO. Crown blew me away, Crossmen has the best music and design I have seen in a while. I really hope they make finals. I am glad I get to see that show again tomorrow. Blue Devils...really clean, and a very talented corps, but I cannot stand the show...I know I will get persecuted for my opinion, but it is not my taste. I understand the demand and the performance level, but I REALLY do not like the show. Anyway, I hope the Crossmen make finals. Everyone should check out the arranger's midi version plus explanation of the show before they witness it first hand, it is great. It is an 11 minute piece with many different themes that permeate throughout the show. I normally do not like the truncated mini versions of pieces in a show, but the Crossmen's show is more on the vein of "A rhapsody on a theme by Paganini" than a show with tons of pieces smashed together. Back on topic, 6th seems correct for PR to my knowledge at the moment. The year is highly competitive. Really, without the penalty, Bluecoats are less than 2 points out of first. Clean the visual and colorguard, and they win. First in music tonight. HONK
  8. Shouldn't this be in the International Corps Forum? :P He is British. he would probably march DCUK, use his magic to make them kick--- and then come across the pond and be the first DCUK corps to win DCI. Or...he may march VK...just to do it.
  9. Thanks for the update. Being an ex-band director, and a drummer, I know how flakey drummers can be. I am glad you were able to get everything together for the show last night. i enjoyed it. People need to remember that not only is the corps only three years old, but you guys are weekend warriors (no offense intended to the national guard and reserves). I really dig the new uniforms as well. Actually, during the intermission last night I met two older Sky Ryders alums who mentioned they may check it out next year. With the massive number of people in the metroplex that have marched drum corps at some time, it should only be a matter of time before Frontier is at the top of the heap in DCA. I will see you Sunday in Denton. Good luck!
  10. I do hope that everything is ok. I really wanted to be a part of the group this year, but I was in the midst of a job change. I did get the new job, but my vacation time does not kick in until June of 08. Otherwise, I would be there. I plan on doing it next year. Good luck with the rest of the season Frontier.
  11. Where was it last night in Dallas? I have seen pictures and video from Austin and Bedford and it seems that there was a full line. Last night it was a grounded pit with 4 or 5 people. Just curious. I hope everything is ok.
  12. Well. I do not have tickets yet either, but I believe the venue is much larger this year than in years past. I ususally buy the day of the show with no problems.
  13. Crossmen did this with School for Scandel. Not to mention Appalachian Spring. I like the idea.
  14. Of course, you would have to start all of the shows at 9:30 pm to make this effect work for everyone. Otherwise, this would sort of be like a major lightshow at a daytime, outdoor music festival. I never understtod why they do that.
  15. I'll play, I love that show. Here are a few. Myth: Boston Crusaders beat up someone in 1994. Myth: Troopers burned their score sheets when beat by Southwind in 1992. Myth: The bandage on the head of the Bluecoats' snare drummer at Finals in 1995 was real and not GE. B) Myth: Vanguard had two snares kicked out of the corps Finals week 1989.
  16. You have to love the weather here today. Clear skies and low 90's. Couldn't be much better for late July in Texas. I cannot wait to see my first live show since 04 Denver. And we get Denton on Sunday with a completely different line-up. Awesome!
  17. Wow. I did not realize that Florida Wave almost made finals in 87. I remember them on tour in 92. They were pretty cool, but, I guess bad things happened. I hate the fact that most of the Florida corps have folded. I really dug Florida Guardsmen in 92 (Div II). But Hurricane Andrew and some horrible management (i heard) took them out. They were big, exciting and good. Except for the Stingray drums. Sorry OT. Back to the show.
  18. Why not just make Pioneer Green on these charts? They are having fun on tour I am sure. But, at least make them their own color until they pass someone competitvely in some caption.
  19. Not to open anything up on myself, just answering the original question. There were some eyebrows raised in 1994 Cadets during Maria where the guard coupled up and one couple was two men and another was two women. I love that show, and fortunately got to see it many times that year. I didn't think much of it, but I remember others commenting on that part of the show.
