  1. Hmmm... I've never experienced hate for the Cadets. I don't really care for Hoppy but the Cadets, as an organization and a marching unit, always seemed to be a classy operation when I was marching. The members seemed to respect their corps and other units on the field as well. We shared an after show snack with them once in 1998 and I found the members to be very friendly and classy. If you want to see an unruly and unclassy group of corps members, look no further than.... I guess I shouldn't say... :)
  2. 27 Star of Indiana Geneseo Knights Phantom Regiment Cadets
  3. Hey now... :) Now for the real question. Who are you? Only a few people would have a Doris for their icon and their screen name. And, you are a little spunky, from the sound of your post. I have my ideas...
  4. I always wondered what they were saying. I knew it was Latin. Is that really what it meant? Agmen in Latin means host or to host.
  5. I did as well. I liked them better than in the past, however... My all time worst uni change was Blue Devils in 1994. I almost cry every time I watch 93 (or any other year) and wish I could have seen them live... <**>
  6. I kinda liked the Khakis. I got the safari vibe too, but wouldn't that have been a thowback to the 1975-86 PR uni? Pith helmet... British military style look... Exploring India or something.
  7. Bill Petersen loved to give us Latin quotes during rehersals when he was our brass caption head. We often heard Semper Ubi Sub Ubi, Cogito Ergo Sum (Fui Futurus), Semper Perennis, and something that included ****** Veritas ( I cant remember the first part).
  8. 98 PR's straight bugles. They were Bb trumptets that were straightened and then some tube was added to lower the pitch to G. There was actually some controversey at first because some people did not think that they were within rules, but in the end it was determinded that they were. After all, they were bell front, pitched in G, with not more than 3 valves.
  9. I have seen BD and Cavaliers use of amplification. I felt it added nothing to the effect or sound. In fact, I felt BD's pit was QUIETER than most. (no pounding on keys, volume turned down). I do think that BD's setup is the best with the individual amps per piece of equipment. (BUT I STILL DON'T LIKE IT). I have also seen the Colt Cadets and their SINGING of the show. Yuck. I used to love watching those kids go out there and play their hearts out, and usually do pretty good considering their age, etc. The vocals were almost embarrasing to watch.
  10. Yes, the "Phantom Regiment (1990)" veteran would like to point out, that SCV was denied top 4 status last year when a certain midwest corps came from behind at Finals. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What is wrong with a "Phantom Regiment (1990)" veteran pointing out the truth, or even "Any Other Corps" veterans? Should we not be proud of the unit which we were once a member of? Check your facts. The Phantom Regiment beat SCV at ALMOST every one of their head to head matchups in 2003. Did you forget PR went west? How is this a "come from behind at Finals" victory? And besides... "SCV was denied top 4 status..." This would imply someone was "granting" this status and that there is no real competition (a discussion for another thread...). One more thing. Since when did this "Top 4" thing start? Wasn't it always "Top 6" or "Top 12". Just an observation. And yes, for those of you with enough sleuthing skills to check member's profiles on DCP, I marched PR and was never in the Top 4 or Top 6.
