  1. You will win fiends. Lebanese Vampires will peruse you. But mostly you will wallow in Margaritas. Seriously, you will have an all access pass to "Drum Corps," the best "Private" club in this Galaxy. Everywhere you go people will see your "DC" affiliation as a reason to draw you into conversation about shared love of the activity. And Mistress Kelli will show you a thing or two. Best of all you will make beauytiful music. Heartbreakingly beautiful music. Even if you're spinning a flag. B)
  2. Oh God pleeeeeeease not Lucretia again. I am so sick of hearing that and it is not fair to the thousands of people at the parade who hate it as much as we do. How about the closer from 05? That was a huge hit with the crowd. And while I'm at it, forty years ago when my little corps marched we played four or five songs in parades. Why must it be only one song these days?
  3. Thank you for posting this. It was a huge delight. Seeing them in person is even more fun. Drum Corps is awesome in any language if it's done with respect for the art form and it's traditions. Thank God DCA still has that respect. May it always continue. The next great Champion will be Jester Corps. Oh wait, that's DCI. he he
  4. Two Sky tunes that always get me and always will. "I'll Walk With God" and "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue." Good luck choosing all your music this year. We love Sky.
  5. Just wish to express INTENSE gratitude to y'all. It was almost like being there. B)
  6. Check this out. It's awfully nice in Winston Salem today. Sorry to be all Biotchy. I'm loving the news from yous. (Native New Yawker) http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USNC0767.html
  7. Any hope for some more pics? The one early on in this thread gave me great hope. It's a nice stadium. Fingers crossed.
  8. ^0^ Does anyone remember Fee Waybill and the Tubes? "White Punks on Dope" and "Don't Touch Me There" That's some blistering Bay Area stuff. Kelli this is for you if you don't know the lyrics I recommend them to you. "As our rivets rub together flashing sparks into the night. At this moment of surrender darling if you really care, Don't touch me there." ROFLMAO Dan
  9. Here's an idea on how to put some butts in the seats and grow Drum Corps at the same time. Take about 500 tickets in the "cheap" seats and give them to Brass/drum/guard people in local marching bands. GRATIS. Half of them will be auditioning in November. I've always felt that Drum Corps had a level of excitement that Marching bands just couldn't compete with. And the tickets would have gone unsold anyway. Am I insane?
  10. Me too. I get goose bumps every time I even think about it. Nice to know someone else felt the same way.
  11. 1. Where are you from? 2. How many of the three choices would you attend finals in if they are held there next year. 3. Why? San Francisco Any of the three I love DCA Now let me just add that I think a lot of people in the Noth East are thinking wrongly about the possibility of driving to Winston Salem. FLY THERE. Rent a car. Believe me it makes the trip a hundred times more fun. With the price of gas the way it is (and will be next year), it's can't be that much more expensive. My feeling is if it's more than a four hour drive don't do it. That's why God gave us airplanes. Or maybe the Chatanooga Choo Choo goes nearby??? "Nothin could be finer, than to have your ham and eggs in Carolina." Start saving your money now and have a good DCA wherever it's held.
  12. Lisa you cracked me up and reminded me of Bette Midler, 1980, when she referred to some people in the audience as "Well on their way to OinkOink land." She followed that with this. "Oops, so sorry. Once again behaving in a manner I had sworn to eschew. Thank you. Once again falling into the vat of vulgarity. Oh tut-tut. I did so want to emerge from this project bathed in a new and enobling light. I wanted to come out and be the sweet pure honest person that I really really am. I wanted to show you the good beneath the gaudy, the saint beneath all this paint. The sweet pure winsome little soul that lurks beneath this lurid exterior. But fortunately, just as I was about to rush down the path to respectability and righteousness, a wee small voice called out to me in the night and reminded me of the motto by which I've always tried to live my life. F#*K EM IF THEY CAN'T TAKE A JOKE." Good luck and good times in Winston Salem.
  13. For Jester kids who may read this. I thought you might like to hear a little about another small corps from a long time ago. They were called the Thunderbirds and they didn't know it at the time but they had a good friend in the form of the mighty Caballeros and maybe the Skyliners too. It was the early 1960's and they never won a competition but they marched with all their hearts and formed lifelong friendships that continue to this day. One of them became the director of the Skyliners Alumni corps. One is in the Drum Corps Hall of Fame and the Bugler's Hall of Fame. He is also a well known and respected instructor/arranger for a hot division 2 corps. Another is a visual tech for a major Sr. corps. One became the first and only ever Female Drum Major of a major SR. Corps. Some are judges and our Drill instructor is still active in Alumni Corps at the ripe young age of 81. So hang in there Jester. Drum Corps will give back much more than you put into it. I know because I have been so happy to read your letters to Lee Rudnicki. It's my reward for loving Drum Corps. I am honored to see you perform and look forward to more. Sorry if this is a little off-topic. Dan
  14. Can anyone list all 25 and their scores? That'd be Grrrrreat.
