  1. With all this talk about The Countdown, it would be an interesting product idea if DCI offered a "Custom Countdown" product, where you get to pick a maximum number of shows and they'll make you a DVD. They could have a generic introduction by Dennis and Rondo before each corps (what the show was, where they placed, typ. liner note stuff they could record in a day or two) to give you the countdown experience. Once you send your Custom Countdown order to DCI, they would drop the selected shows onto a DVD with a generic label, their program could print a custom tracklist for the box jacket, put it in an envelope and ship it for only $19.99! I'd buy one. Or two. Or three. DCI would just need to give me $1 of that price for each sale for the idea. ;)
  2. Solar powered LED fabric, programmable to project a different uniform each year, or even have a "light board" technician to change the appearance of the uniform for different portions of the show.
  3. Have they made any improvements to their PA system? It sounded pretty good last year, I can only imagine how it awesome might sound with improved headsets and upgrades in the amplifiers.
  4. "Computerworld" would be pretty exciting on the field, actually.
  5. A set of detailed instructions for theater managers and projectionists are a must and should (have been/be) a part of these presentations from day one.
  6. If Dennis says "from start to finish" one more time... And there was the moment when Dennis was explaining the complexities of a program, looked over at Steve for further commentary, and Steve totally blew it off and continued on to the next corps as if Dennis hadn't said a thing. It was like Steve was thinking, 'yeah, OK, who gives a ****, let's move on!'
  7. UA Comemrce 14 in Walled lake, Michigan got to watch the whole show in mono coming from one speaker in the upper right corner of the screen. Multiple complaints to the "manager" (a teenage kid) who told me that was the only audio setting that was compatible with Fathom. We were extremely disappointed, because that theater has had excellent sound in past events. We're going to a different theater next time.
  8. It might appear to be '98, but it's really from the future!
  9. From "Charging your electronics while on tour" The Cadets present their 2009 program, "A Tribute to Kraftwerk."
  10. I'd say "Hi Dan!" and start talking memories about the Glassmen. :)
  11. Glassmen 1994-96: Magic 1999: If you remove the shield and take the black off the arms, you have the same uniform underneath. The 94-96 Glassmen jackets did zip up in the back. Can anyone who marched Magic in '99 verify they wore the Glassmen uniforms?
  12. That's ridiculous! I'm surprised that doesn't start a fire.
  13. I would have never guessed. But after looking at the photos on CorpsReps, you're right!
  14. I don't see what the problem is. Downtown and its adjacent neighborhoods are perfectly safe. Warm-up can be done with plenty of space for all in Lafayette Park. Ford Field, while enclosed, is a spectacular facility. Fearing for the kids lives and instruments is a ridiculous notion. Its as if you think there are going to be thugs hiding in the bushes waiting to massacre a corps for some brass. Safety is a concern no matter what city the kids are in, but downtown Detroit is no reason for alarm.
  15. I will never forget watching that encore performance. Ever.
  16. I'm not sure if there is already a topic devoted to this, but reading the "theft" thread got me thinking -- how do 150 kids keep their phones and iPods, etc charged all summer? When I marched, cell phones and pagers were banned from tour (extremely rare to have one back then, anyway) and walkmen and discmen were powered by standard AA batteries. Now that a lot of things require lithium/rechargeable configurations, do you all just plug in and share a power strip in any outlet you can find? Is there some kind of schedule (i.e. hornline Monday & Thurs, drums & guard Tues & Friday) or is it just a free-for all, stampede to get the spot on the floor near an outlet? I'm really curious. The only electricity issue we had was waiting to inflate your air mattress, which was a banned practice for a couple of the years I marched, too.
  17. 1994-96 Glassmen 92-93 Glassmen uni still wins, hands down.
  18. Maybe we'll write in a 'Hallelujah' for one of our Council members to say during our multiple amplified interruptions during the show.
  19. The Detroit City Council, in its first year of DCPI Division 3 competition, is pleased to present its program for the DCPI 10 Season.
