  1. Sounds familiar, GE Vis judge seems to be missing a lot lately. Congrats to Phantom, they keep moving up, maybe a 3 way race at the top soon? Pittsburgh and Allentown will be interesting.
  2. Higher scores all around. Cadets improve again. Son called me tonight and the Cavies have changed their ending. Said 2 days of rehearsal have allowed for a lot of clean up. We will see in Pittsburg! Good luck to all! It is an interesting season for sure! b**bs
  3. All the corps have to wait for their Drum Majors anyway, so they ought to put back the retreat. The corp members (my son is one - Cavies - Pit) like to visit each other and with some leaving, they don't have time. They haven't left before 12:00 for any shows and there have always been 2 or 3 more corps left too. He has a girlfriend in Carolina and gets a quick peek at her before they are off but that is all. Seems they wait on the buses for their drum majors and then leave. I miss the retreat, it just seems like a flat ending to a wonderful evening. I don't think it has helped any of them leave much earlier!
  4. Midwest crowds always "boo" when midwest corps don't win or place well. It drives me wacko. They also tend to like more "in your face" shows than esoteric ones which seemed to be preferred on the coasts. Murfreesboro is certainly not in the midwest and people booed when the Cavies were only .75 higher than Cadets. They also booed when BD was third. My son called last night (Cavies Pit) and he was upbeat and said they have their work cut out for them. He said the Cadets were good and clean and deserved to win. Watch out for some changes in the Cavies show and major cleaning up!!! :(
  5. good for Phantom, they should have beat the Blue Devils in Murfreesboro too. It will be a fight to the finish, but I for one think that when the Cavaliers change their ending and they will, clean up all the stuff they changed this week, they may prevail. But if they don't so be it, whoever wins the finals will deserve it. The Cadets look good too, it will be like last year I believe, close, close, close. I am glad that they (Cavaliers) aren't undefeated going into the final stretch, it seems undefeated corps never pull it out in the end, or am I missing something. Of course I am a bit prejudiced, I will admit, my son is in the Cavaliers. But congratulations to the Cadets and their win tonight. They have a nice show (I have seen it 3 times this summer) and I think I am finally getting the door and all the little things happening. I really like the music and the Twilight theme near the end is so cool. Finally the judges are seeing what a weak and boring show BD has. I think Madison may top them soon too! I think BD has too many Yowzaa's in the show! Good luck to all the corps in the remaining weeks.
  6. My son is in the Cavies Pit and he said the penalty was because their pit did not clear out (get past the 30) in enough time. It caused them to have to rush their set up a bit. He said it happened earlier this year when they marched the same night.
  7. I agree with you. This is my son's first year too and I have seen him mature more this summer than I ever imagined. A few years ago (and last year too) he would have whined and complained about someone losing (he is a Cavalier) but this year he is positive and says it is all about improving and learning. He enjoys meeting and talking to all the other Corp members and congratulated the Blue Devils (pit, he is in the pit for Cavies) when they won both nights. I was in total shock that he was this cool and collected about it. They are teaching these kids respect, sportsmanship, team work, and how to get on in life. There is more to corps than just marching each week. I wish the students I teach could get this same experience. The fans complain and banter back and forth, while the corps are friends and having friendly competitions. I must admit I have grown up too because of my son's calm collected attitude. It has been hard to do, but i am getting there. They all can't wait for the Tour of Champions where they can have fun, perform and hang out with each other.
  8. Great reviews, and I agree. When the Cavaliers clean up their program, and they will, there was a big difference (except the fall) from Murfreesboro and Indy (I was at both). Their percussion has placed the highest of all both days, and their horn line is awesome. If the Blue Devils don't add anything and Cavies clean it up (they added the last part of the closer on Wednesday), I can see them going on top. Hey, look at the 2 days, a half a point on Friday, a tenth on Sat. Then on Sunday in Napierville, a 96.10 (highest of the season). Should be a great and close finals. Wish I could go!
  9. Ever think that the Pit player for The Cavaliers is playing like he was told by the techs? I know he is, he is my son. I will ask him about it next time I talk to him. He is a rookie, so he is learning all the time and would appreciate any suggestions, I am sure. The Cavies have not put their ending in yet. Wait, it is coming. I like your comments on all the corps. I pretty much agree with you. Art lady
