  1. I agree with you(in thot the cape is a great idea-but not working for them). The cape makes them look dirtier. I think it also adds to much bulk under their uniform proper. I thought they looked cleaner (albeit still dirty) without the cape once they took it off. Interesting, they have some drill that is very similar towards the ending of Machine-just not done very well right now.
  2. I think their marching technique sort of keeps you from noticing it so much.
  3. As if this does not exist amongst other judges as well.....please...
  4. I am sure. Especially after the third show of the year.
  5. I cannot believe I am saying I agree, but I do...I luv it.
  6. Actually, this year's show is not that avant garde. If you have ever seen Rite of Spring --Print Du Temps-...the show actually pays alot of homage to the ballet...Although the ballet was quite the "sensation", back in the day, this show is pretty straight forward. I am actually glad to also hear jazz licks I like. I am coming from a place where I HAVE not liked many of BD's shows for years. This year's is a keeper (for me at least)...
  7. I never thot the Bluecoats were a late bloomer in 2010. When I saw the preview, I knew that it was real solid. Still one of my favorite shows to date by them (well loved Criminal too...just wish they would have layered it more ).
  8. They have alot of work to do. Better vehicle to work with this year....but so do alot of other corps.
  9. I agree. This is the first BD show I have liked since 06-07 time frame. Can I say I love the music, the drill is the most intriguing I have seen (so far) and I do not mind the props....and can I say how happy I do not have to have anything told to me ? Or that I do not have to hear Dada.....or worse yet "Yowza".
  10. Like straight men have never looked at another straight man in the shower...or straight woman never looked at another nude- not necessarily in a sexual context.....but I know (straight)guys in high school who got their nicknames from (straight guys) the locker room---and it was not because no one was looking :-) There is an assumption that someone "wants to jump someone's bones--that they have no boundaries.....We all have thoughts and maybe impure at times, but with a conscience, would be likely to avoid the consequences of violating another's boundaries...like... oh rape, jail, emotional, physical harm.
  11. I hope I am allowed to post this in its entirety without breaking any rules. I loved this show when it came out. I thought it fitting considering yesterday's events in Boston: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ0H8PT9_UY
  12. I really think the scoring system should be done such that the corps that is in first place should be 0.00, then the second place score listed as how many points they are behind the 1st place corps,,,,example -1.05, and so on down the line. The notion that there is a perfect performance in drum corps is a far fetch. Caption awards could still be given out based on a score by the individual judge(s). I know they expanded GE to two judges for each visual and music. I think they should actually do the same for other captions as well.
  13. Thanks for posting you review. Agree with alot of it.
  14. Not for anything (and it does not count for much) but Debbie Torchia does love Boston......actually sat next to her in Madison for awhile in '06
  15. For as much as I dislike Christmas music because there are radio stations that start playing it before Halloween, I love the arrangements in this show.
  16. Love the Cavaliers show. The guard......what's up ? Come on fellas.....drop-spins are basic.
  17. Well, they did a traditional show last year and finished 9th. I know you cannot compare years, but BK has a tradition of being out there (shows of the past). I remember College Park in 2000.....most people kind of just sat there after they finished their show. I think this year married some of their newer style with their past.
  18. I kind of agree about the execution(although I think BK's drill is more intricate) because they are good, however, I feel Spirit could have layered this show ALOT more.....It is Vegas baby.......
