Hi everyone, as part of my drum corps poll series, I’ve come up with my next match up. Throughout the 2017 season Pioneer and Jersey Surf went head to head at numerous competitions throughout the season. At the DCI World Championships, Pioneer finished 34th and Jersey Surf finished 27th. Even though there is a gap between the two, that gap might close up next season. Pioneer is on a mission to field a full Corps next season. Within the goal of marching a full corps next season, Pioneer has a goal of marching a full hornline of 80 brass next season. As of right now, they have 44 brass members r

Hi there! I am a member of Pioneer's horn line, and I just want to get a good word out about our recent January rehearsal/audition camp. For anyone that was there - we already know how exciting 2018 is going to be for Pio, but for those of you who were not able to hear about it, here I am to tell you. Pioneer is doing some amazing things to start this year, with a near entirely new musical staff, exciting design choices, and a massively improved level of talent from our current members, 2018 is looking to be absolutely amazing. Below is a link to a video I posted sharing my thought

After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. C

Happy Thanksgiving! This week we are headed to Milwaukee for Pioneer. This group has been around a long time and had a lot of A60 and DII success. Looks like their best WC/DI success was 16th. What are your top 1-5 all time Pioneer shows? (Optional) What are your 1-3 least favorites from them? You can go into as much or little detail as you like but please please try to keep things positive. For a quick recap in case you missed it and/or want to add your contributions: Week 1- Cavies- 2006 the Machine is the favorite and 2012 15 min of fame is the least favorite.

Great night of drum corps! No rain, only a light wind, packed full house (arrive early, lots of folks with reserved tickets had trouble getting to their seats as everyone "spread" on the bleachers and some spots seemed to dissappear). This is the grass stadium where the MN Vikings have training camp, no track-grass right up to the bleachers-the crowd is so close some drum majors conduct from the stands. My hometown and most fav stadium to play in! Some totally biased thoughts from last night: (i have not seen much of anything live/video/etc for this season, have not even had time to read m -
Hello! I'm trying to raise enough money so I can march my rookie year with Pioneer. I March baritone with them and the first two camps have been wonderful experiences. Any donation is much appreciated! http://www.gofundme.com/grvs60

As far as I can tell, there is no thread yet for this year's Pioneer show, "Joy!" (If I'm wrong, please merge this one into it.) I've been inspired to start this after realizing through watching their Muncie performance on the Fan Network (although of course it's been noted in mingusmonk's thread for some time), that their repertoire includes the hymn, "We Gather Together." Although apparently a staple for more than one hundred years at services on (American) Thanksgiving (with roots, according to Wikipedia, stretching back to 1597 and the Dutch victory over the Spanish at the Battle of Turnh

Because most of these tiny shows get overlooked, and because I enjoyed it quite a lot, here is my review of Sunday's show! (Disclaimer: this review will likely be deficient in color guard and drumline commentary. I'd rather spare you "Wow, drumline's big" and "flags were nice but it was windy" because I admittedly don't have much expertise in these areas.) Legends: This was my first ever experience with Legends. I found the hornline to have a warm and nice sound, generally, however, the visual element definitely hurt the musical delivery. Granted it's early July, so there's still plenty of ti

There are actually two shows in Illinois tonight. About 75 minutes west of Lisle, six corps compete in Dixon, where it looks likely the Colts will take first place.
