Hi all. I'm just doing this for fun. I know that three-valve bugles were legal before 1994, I just wanted to keep the Star of Indiana years together.

Ooooh...toughy. My favorite era is 1974-1993; and that covers two choices. I'll have to go with...early DCI ONLY because my favorite show of all time is there. There are a lot of shows I dig from the most recent generation, but they just don't have that same...I dunno, feeling that early DCI era had. Perhaps I just love the G bugle sounds, maybe I like the familar tunes, I dunno.

Then again, the pre-DCI era is just too much for me. It's probably (partially) the recording quality. The horns just seemed kind of out of tune all the time; but I still don't mind the occasional pre-DCI recording. Anyway, that's just me.

I voted for 2000 - now. Only because I don't know those shows nearly as well as those in previous eras.

BTW - My favorite era is - early 80's - '93. No contest.

There's a few people around here that will tell you that you really can't enjoy post-2000 drum corps because those shows are meant to be SEEN and heard, thus nullifying the sound-only medium.

For the most part, I tend to agree...there are exceptions, of course.

My iTunes playlist is populated by mid-1980s to mid-1990s drum corps.

As a cure for this syndrome, I would prescribe listening to Santa Clara's 2005 show and pretending you never saw them. Not that there's anything wrong with their visual presentation, it's just that I find that this is a good example of a recent show in which the music stands extremely well on it's own, in an old-school kind of way.

Exactly, but I have all era's of drum corps on my iTunes playlist: 1954-2007.

What I listen to most frequently is 82-84 and NOT the Star era 1986-1995.

The 3-valve era was 1990-1999...err...kind of anyway.
