MiniSopGuy
Can someone explain to me why some shows recognize the corps as Div II or III but mix them together to determine placement while other, seems like most, shows keep them completely separated for placement? Impulse 68.1 This is getting exciting, just look at how close some of these scores are two weeks out. Raiders are only 1.1 point out of 5th from 9th. A tie across divisions between Teal and Revo. If you go to GE like they would finals night, Teal took GE by .5 points. Impulse hasn't played a show in a while. They could jump into the mix. As it goes now an even mix of 6 Division 2s and 6 3s. There is looking to be alot of excitement all the way down to the wire in II/III this year Edited August 1, 2007 by Teal_Euph88

OU812
1. Jersey Surf - 87.302. Spartans - 86.60 3. Blue Devils B - 82.45 4. Memphis Sound - 81.75 5. Revolution - 80.20 6. Raiders - 79.05 7. Vanguard Cadets - 78.600 8. Fever - 77.05 9. Dutch Boy - 76.80 10. Citations - 75.25 11. Teal Sound - 74.40 12. Oregon Crusaders - 72.350 I don't know wheather to applaud or be concerned. I always enjoyed the SURF in 2004, 2005 and 2006. They were entertaining, innovative and original. However this year, I see a lot of Parking & Barking which is a trademark of ECJ. Surf also seems to be highlighting individual solo performers which was waht ECJ has done. Hmmm, Is Surf now ECJ with different uniforms? As I watched and listened to Surf perform recently, I didn't distinctly hear the music of the Beach Boys. The volume seemed to overshadow the actual music. The colorguard was very good and showed they could move and perform to the intent of the show. The true scores (unweighted) which is what DCI uses in the final tally will be what matters. leadsop97
OU812, I just watched our show from last year again to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I'd first like to mention that we "parked and barked" for our first major impact in the show, and that was it, that one time. Now I haven't seen Surf's show this year, but if "Parking and Barking" once is enough to make it seem like alot, then I suppose maybe they are doing. However, I have to applaud Surf. They have completely changed their program around from the last few years. Yes we at ECJ did highlight solo performers, but we were playing jazz, and honestly, what is jazz without solos? Again, I haven't seen Surf's show this year, are they playing jazz at all? If they have the players, which they definitely do, why not feature them. Just about every corps in the country has their featured soloist. Is Surf ECJ in new unis? Nah. are they competing with the top corps in div II like ECJ did the last 4 years, yes. I wish Surf luck, and hope for them to be crowned division II champs come August 11th because they have changed their program around. For the last several years, they have had fan favorite shows that placed them in the middle/lower pack in division II. From all of the reviews I've read, it still seems as though surf is the fan favorite, and the only thing that's different this time around, is they have a corps that has their eyes set on taking the whole thing. nothing bad about it. Congrats Surf, keep up the good work.
