I saw more frustration & even parents pulling their kids out, because they either didn't know what was going on or they felt that the kids were getting in over their heads. Give them schedules and stick to them as much as possible. Be clear about the cost and time commitments. In Div II/III, the kids are often younger. Ensure that parents are provided with timely information on progress - exciting news (that positive note that you mentioned), how they can help and how much what they have done is appreciated. Div II/III runs on volunteers - keep them happy and eager to help and you will have success. They will then help convince the parents of their kids friends that the corps is a good thing.
