  1. I have bought the set every year for my son since 1997..... I guess he is not getting one this year :( makes me glad we at least got to the show in Buffalo!
  2. All I can say is it was a terrific show! Loved Bluecoats, Loved Crown, BD won fair and square. Sure glad I went! Met up with a lot of old friends. Cathy
  3. I cannot log into DCI.org, although I am on Michael Boo's Blog....That is working but not the home page. :(
  4. Semis was the only show I got to see this year and I was unable to see any last year. It was so great to see that they have finally adjusted the structure to allow open class to compete against the world class corps during championship week. I really enjoyed seeing the 4 open class corps that I saw at semis, and I would have to say that of all the 25 corps competing, it was Vanguard Cadets show that brought the most emotion of any corps out there. Wish I had been able to see more of these corps.... maybe next year!
  5. As Dan Potter said on the field as they were leaving "they were ELECTRIC" - you could taste and smell how bad they wanted it. My son marched the last time they were in finals and he was really emotional when their score was announced. Way to go Bones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
  6. Both of these corps deserve kudos for such a great job. Way to go Blue Saints for breaking 60!!!
  7. Great to hear that Drum Corps is alive and well in Quebec. Some of my best memories are of shows in Quebec, where there is a solid fan base and they cheer all corps! Maybe Ontario can learn from your example!
  8. Sorry guys, being retired I easily lose track of what day of the week it is
  9. That was what I would have said as well. My son marched 2004 & 2005, so those years were special to me, but of the two I liked the 2005 show better.
  10. I think Cabs Alumni corps played in Kitchener in 2009
  11. Yes we do take those drab uncoloured bills.... but when we go down there, we cannot even pass a penny.... too bad the courtesy only goes one way.
  12. I knew that, I was just being sarcastic! There are times when I think that might not be the worst thing in the world, but we enjoy our cultural differences.
  13. Ask Tom Peashey how much he likes bringing equipment trucks over the boarder. In the late 90's Patriots had their truck pulled over and it was out of commission for a few days. He was NOT a happy camper - all of us Canadians could feel the heat of his wrath (which warmed up the summer weather considerably!!! )
  14. Mr. Boo!!!! In typical Yankee fashion, you have the US looking much bigger than Canada, when we all know Canada is a much larger land mass . Despite that, we like being our own country, we just wish we didn't need passports now to cross the border. Can't we just be friends???? On topic, it was a sad day when I realized that my kids would have to march south of the border to finish their drum corps life, but they were much better for the experience. It is really hard to describe the activity and generate interest up here with declining music programs. I belong to the Lions Club in a small town and we sponsor the High School band that would otherwise have to fold without funding. Sponsorship of the arts is a very sensitive subject. There are a lot of great Canadians instructing corps in the US (Lee Beddis, Doug Thrower, Dave MacKinnon, Paul McGarr, to name a few) and this is indicative of the talent we have had. I know they and many others that have gone on in music would be instrumental if there was ever a supportive group who could pull a competitive unit together north of the border. For now I would be happy to see a few more Open Class corps for a starter. If Blue Saints can pull together a small corps every year and Stentors have made several valiant attempts....... Toronto used to have about 7 or 8 corps and Kitchener Waterloo, which is about the size of Madison, had about 5.
  15. This still makes my heart skip a beat and puts tears in my eyes when I watch this video. And man, why did DCI ever stop using American the Beautiful/O Canada? The power and emotion behind this arrangement is beautiful.
  16. All of them, since sadly I didn't see any live this year.... Next year I hope to go to Indy again!
  17. Indianapolis be warned. I've missed the last two years, but next year I will be back! Congratulations to all the corps! I am really sorry I did not get to see any of you live
